Not always easy to tell. If you already know him, the fact that he wants to spend time with you alone is a good sign.

If you don't know him that well or you've just met, he might be nervous around you. He's probably trying to make a good first impression and isn't quite sure how to go about it.

At some point, the signs will be very clear.

@Fireguy17 Sure, she can ask. She probably will at some point. But it may be awkward or difficult to do so if they met recently. Not everyone is prepared to put all the cards on the table that early onwards.

And we guys are pretty bad at reading the signs girls are sending out. So yes, communication will take the guess work out of the equation.
