Do old guys in the gym often randomly come up to you and start talking to you?

I think they just feel lonely. I used to work as a server and I remember that the older ladies especially really liked to talk, sometimes they don’t have kids, family, or they just feel lonely, so speaking and having conversations with them helps them feel less lonely. You also learn a lot from them.

It could also be that a lot of them came of age in a time before the internet so people would interact in person more.

nope, I went there to work out, not parade around in the latest workout outfit, or do 2 reps and look in the mirror to see if I got bigger all of a sudden.
We now have some really good equipment at the station, so I no longer have to go to a gym.
I usually went late at night to avoid the other people.

All the fucking time. We have 3 of them at my gym that I swear they only go there to talk to people. I've made the mistake of reciprocating the conversations and now I feel like I can't escape them.
