Good points, anyway I recently started studying body language and if you need my honest opinion I think every move a girl\boy do has a meaning if not more than 1, deep into the human mind I see that we have a centre that automatically tries to interpret things that happen around us, I really feel tired sometimes because I'm a very alert observer I have this skill that enables me to relate things, scenes I see, faces I meet . I'm really alert to what is happening around me all the time...and it makes me build an imaginary world of my own in my dense mind.
i know when it comes to topics such as what are the explanations of signs that girls do and how to interpret them it's like travelling into the unknown...believe me, but translating these signs into facts is a notable skill that only few peaple enjoy.
when you study about body language you can relate, interpret and explain some of the movements people do while they are unconscious or buzy talking to a girl\guy or doing anything else that reflects a deep spur like nervousness or shyness...etc etc.
this is so interesting...Enjoy your day.

i only take it as a sign when its with smiling staring touching and all these other things its just another little hint that goes along with other things are happening like eye contact ect...
well when you perform little gestures like those. it can confuse them
because playing with your hair in front of them or afar can display
that you are flirting with them because boys really read into your
body language, so you can mislead them. plus boys can also
sometime claim that you like them to get a thrill out of it
because it makes them feel manly and handsome
because they feel dominant and "pimpin." so
you can't really blame them, they are
just put under false impressions.
i think they do take it as a sign and I also think they shouldnt. because I always fix my hair play with it and it doesn't mean I'm trying to hint someone randomly I like them...totally a wrong messageee

I'm glad you asked this questyion, because it's happened to me where agirl has played with my hair but did not like me. It's REALLY confusing. 98% of the time I think guys will see it as a sign that you like them and pull away and look at you. I personally feel like she likes me because I DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL SHE DOES IT FOR; SHE DOESNT SAY ANYTHING WHILE TOUCHING IT. He doesn't know that you are just being fidgety , and we guys aren't mind readers when it comes to nonverbal communication. It's annyong though; it helps to actually tell the guy if you like him or don't like him.
Sometimes I will if I've talked to her in say a classroom or job setting and she didn't do it then but when I see her somewhere else and she does while talking to me it sort of says "I'm concerned about how I look in front of you so I'm going to try to fix that to meet your approval". But again only if she didn't do it previously when my contact with her was shall we say professional. Its one of those unconscious cues that tied together with constant direct eye contact, enthusiastic chatting about the subject at hand even if its just me going off on a tangent, etc. makes me think that a girl is interested.
Like if you watch Bill O'reilly on fox news he has a body language specialist on and this woman points out everything from a microscopic frown for half a second, to huge hand movements and describes what they mean. There are so many unconscious cues we give out with our faces and bodies that we can't help but not communicate. Not really unless the girl is staring at you, playing with her hair from afar, it shouldn't be much of a sign.
I know that I fix my hair at random times just because I need to or have the urge to, I don't think that is given off as a sign.If you are playing with your hair while also giving a bashful smile and using your hair to hide your blushes, then yes I take it as a sign.
I think it goes deeper than this and you secretly like to just lead guys on. shame on you
I never take that as any sort of sign of interest.
