I would question that study, they know what the colour is to them, they just don't know the standardized colour names, which is irrelevant. I'm sure everyone could tell you if they are brown, red, blonde.
It's hard to tell what color your hair is just from the roots. I've been dying it since I was twelve. It was kind of blonde back then, but a lot of people's hair darkens and changes color as they age. I can only see a quarter of an inch of it at the most. In some lighting it looks brown, in some lighting it looks ash brown. In some lighting it looks super dark. And in some lighting it looks light. It also varies from season to season. So no, I really don't know what color it is.
but it justs seems so void of color and dull to me, like all the fun was sucked out of it, not quite blonde, not quite real, rich brown like i want. thanks anyway, though :)
Haha, no problem. It's been out of style for a while but a lot of celebrities are trying to replicate it now. Looks pretty with ombre or balayage highlights :)

Dark brown / darkest brown but people think it's jet black
Jet black its a cool color plus I normally have black clothes so its a match!
you're blessed
Right now it's dark brown, but when it's grown out it's dark reddish-brown.
Medium brown to dark brown with natural red highlights.
Ash brown. I've just recently started coloring my hair.
Dark brown, it's sometimes looks black indoors but it's much more noticeable outside
Just like my moms
its black at the roots and the higher it gets to the top of my head it turns light brown or a bit redish
In between blonde and auburn.
I've never once dyed my hair...
Oooh, that sounds gorgeous!
Thanks :)
My natural hair color is closest to the ash brown color
dark blonde... I guess ash blonde of those would be closest. but it usually looks darker because I style them

I can't :(
Why? How? Have you just never grown head hair? I don't get it.

ash brown, i HATE it.
Ash brown is like impossible achieve through dyeing (believe me, I've tried, haha). You're lucky!

when i was born i was a natural blonde but over time my hair darkened into a dark chocolate brown.
Weird poll - the guys natural colour seems to mostly be dark brown or black while there are plenty of girls with lighter hair.
That is weird. I think part of it might be because hair is always darkest at the roots, and guys usually wear their hair short.
Dark brown but in summer it gets little light tints
Is the jet black hair naturally possible?
I've been reading about it. Apparently it does in fact exist, but it is often mistaken for darkest brown.
Or rather, darkest brown is often mistaken for jet black
darkest brown
wish I had jet black though
Darkest brown has more dimension to it though. It looks thicker :)
oh trust me it looks fantastic on other people but jet black would look better on me
Ash brown. Something like that.
Mine is just black, jet black I am not sure.
