Help a gal out? DAIRY FREE?

So I'm allergic to dairy, but I love cheesecake, I've found a dairy free cheesecake recipe that looks really good except the base looks rank af. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to make a base with olive spread or any of those soft butter spreads (as they have similar textures). Or if you have any thoughts on what I could use for the base.

I just buy mine. Head to your local Whole Foods or health food stores and get a vegan version. I've tried a few and they were all pretty great.
I've made my own once from Minimalist Baker's website and it had a cashew base and it was really good. It's the only one I've tried though, so there could be better ones out there somewhere lol.

Yeah I just make it last night. I used olive oil spread for the base and it worked great

By base do you mean crust? I am also dairy free and for the crust I use
1½ cups pecans

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons coconut oil

I'm trying to avoid coconut oil since it's quite expensive

Yep. I use:
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons almond flour
2 tablespoons arrowroot powder
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 cup palm shortening

Or for any recipe you could use a dairy free butter they sell at places like whole foods, I use that stuff in corn bread and cookies and it works out just fine for me.

Doesn't make it good for you. It's high in saturated fats, so bad that it can lead to heart disease

I can assure you I eat very healthy, I work with a dietitian as I have chronic digestive problems. Very rarely do I make shortbread, I prefer other typed of cookies/desserts.

Well have you tried olive oil spreads?

Not for baking, only had it on toast before. But like I said, those dairy free butters have worked well for me when I bake.

Maybe graham crackers + apple sauce?
