I use Asics. I've found (at least the ones I've gotten) they have good support and are great for things like cardio. They were also recommended by a podiatrist I talked to. I've found that a lot of other shoes may be comfortable but are bad for working out. (You can tell by how easily the shoe bends if you apply some pressure to it. Example: "Vans" are super comfortable, but they are awful for working out. They can screw up your legs over time.)

For running New Balance. When I wrestled I wore ASICS. Most of the crap on your list are fashion shoes that fall apart under any real demands and are uncomfortable for real exercise and can lead to injuries from my experience.

Yeah chuck Taylor's are terrible for squats and deadlifts. Real excercise?

I mean when you put them through the passes. So for example you might go run a mile in Nikes and feel ok when you get back home from your around the block jog, but if you're running 26.2 miles you're feet are going to be hamburger meet unless you get some better shoes.

I've run marathons and most people in the races don't fit the stereotype. You get a healthy mix of all sort of people on race day. You might not beat a professional runner/Olympian looking normal or muscular, but those guys run those sorts of races back to back all over the place.

I like my chucks, but only for casual wear. I wear something called Crane. They're from Aldi, nothing special. Price was great, and they are probably the most comfy pair of work out shoes I own.
