Does shaving my light beard hair parts make it thicker?

No. When you shave, all you're doing is cutting the hair.

I think the myth that shaving makes a beard thicker is because guys start shaving when they have peach fuzz, i. e. correlation is mistaken for causation.

I don't think it's true, but nonetheless, you should go for a clean shave until it grows in completely full. Patchy beards are not worth it.
