Anyway, to answer your question, the better people to leave that to is people who are actually way smarter than we are and whose job it is to run things-- you know, the people at the CDC who literally have a job to protect us from disease? Who actually study this thing as their entire job? If they think country-wide vaccination is needed, then it's needed, and if they don't, it's not. If they do think it's needed (which they likely won't), nothing will come of it because the Cheeto is too stupid to encourage people to get vaccinated, he'll leave it to the states because he's a pussy, and then individual governors will have to decide for themselves what to do. Country-wide mandatory vaccination is an *incredibly* small possibility.

I don't think injecting people without their consent should be legal, although denying people access to facilities (schools, etc.) if they haven't been innoculated could be. Fines would just penalise poor people, it would either be so small that nobody would care, or so large that almost nobody could afford not to, thus giving the benefit of herd immunity to the rich, without the inconvenience.

Nope. I think you can reasonably expect enough people to take it to just get to the correct threshold for near herd-immunity automatically. Same with other vaccines.

That said, I’d be perfectly fine with e. g. child day-care and private schools just refusing kids who aren’t vaccinated, as with all the regular vaccines.

Depending on how contagious the virus is, you need a given percentage of the population to be vaccinated to have herd immunity and if not enough people are immune, the virus can still spread.
