What is it that prevents penises from growing after puberty?

Yeah I know everyone hates dick questions, but I think this one is at least somewhat unique... maybe.

So my understanding is that it grows during puberty when exposed to certain hormones but then stops but I never really understood why we couldn't increase it more after puberty with something like hormone treatments.

With height the explanation is supposedly that our growth plates fuse preventing further growth which is why growth hormone supplementation only helps increase height in those with short stature if taken when the growth plates are still open.

So do penises have a mechanism similar to growth plates that prevents further growth, if not why is it we can't increase the size after puberty?

Well if it is hormonal (and I honestly don't know), their would in fact be a way to grow it after wards. Now its entirely possible their are multiple factors i. e. you need hormones but usually their are mulitple ones working in tandem, cell structures i. e. certain cells get told to divide or become something else etc. and you would need increase in blood vessel growth which would be more hormones for that and then you would need to figure out how it targets one region and not all regions etc. So it could be that its possible but so complicated that we don't know how to do it just yet.

Hormones do start the growth BUT that hormone testosterones do not stop or slow down for many years after your penis slows down its growth. Just like your Hight your penis length is in your genes similar to why hair on your head is much longer than your pubes.

The next is why are you concerned? You prob watch way too much porn and believe that guys should be 12" NOT so the average is 5.5" and most are happy.

I get that it's in our genes and that hormones are still produced after puberty but I don't understand why hormones can stimulate them to grow but just lose that ability to stimulate growth past an arbitrary point. They are soft tissue rather than hard like bones and don't have growth plates that fuse so it seems odd to me that they'd just be capped.

Part of it is genuine curiosity like there is so much money to be made and it doesn't seem like it should be that difficult.

Not 12 but 7 is probably ideal. I know I am average/ perhaps above average if 5.5 is actually accurate but average is not necessarily good nor ideal. Like if most girls were given a choice I really doubt any would say 5.5 is their preferred/ideal size. They might tolerate/settle for that but never be excited about it. And despite 5.5 being average most girls claim to have been with guys who were 7 to 8 inches so the statistical average could actually be below average compared to what most girls have experienced.

I am just over at 5.75" but cut and really wish I wasn't cut. Especially for masturbating! A friend of mine was 8" in high school he was actually having a problem being too long. His penis was hitting her curvix making it hurt. They only could have sex doggy style. Another boy in Jr High had a late puberty they started giving him hormones he quickly caught up. We use to jack off at sleep overs so I saw him go from before to after. The hormones made him go from 3" to 5" in months. Boy was he happy. They continued to give him hormones but it slowed down quickly after the growth spurt.
