If anything causes a spike in covid in Texas it is letting hundreds of illegal aliens across the border.
@exitseven The covid rates in Texas are from Texans not Mexicans crossing the border. And if it's "hundreds" of illegal aliens, that is a drop in the bucket of the 29.4 million Texans in Texas. Most people of Mexican descent in Texas were born in Texas of parents of Mexican descent who were also born in Texas. The Census Bureau, which I worked for, has all these facts.
The border crossings are just getting started. and nobody really knows how many are coming in and how many of them are infected.
@exitseven Way to make the pandemic about an irrelevant conspiracy theory Trump made up rather than the facts. Covid existing in the country has zilch to do with illegal immigration.

What stats are you looking at?
@djfhsjk, I suggest some of these videos: youtube.com/playlist
@BoMwarrior Nothing says “look at the facts” like posting conspiracy videos as your source.
Someone else should make the choice because people are ignorant and selfish, but *also* because they can and will infect others.
Walking around without a mask (nobody in Texas wears a mask) and congregating in closed places is a really good way to infect others. Allowing this is like allowing drunk driving - you might kill yourself which is your business, but you might also kill others, thus the need for regulation.
@msc545 And if you don't want to be exposed to that, you can stay home in self-imposed isolation. No one is forcing you to leave your home.I am not so eager to trust the government to make decisions for us. Look at how many times they have waffled on their advice during this pandemic.
I think it is unfair to require people to stay home in order to protect themselves from people who refuse to take simple precautions. This is like saying that if you don't want to be killed by a drunk driver, you shouldn't drive.
@msc545 But the alternate solution you propose is to make everyone stay home. How is that better?
No, that is not a good solution and I was not proposing it. The alternate solution is that everyone needs to wear a mask.
@msc545 I wear masks routinely when I am not at home, in my car, or alone in my office.
I am glad to hear that! I wish everyone would do that.
Oh yeah, the article link...www.wsj.com/.../well-have-herd-immunity-by-april-11613669731
Bullshit. You need 70 to 80% of the population vaccinated to have herd immunity.
Or a dome like in the Simpson Movies.
You are a psychopath.
They can't because Biden wants illegal aliens to be able to travel anywhere they want with no restrictions.
@joeldalton Pretty sure the post was a joke. And it went *swoosh* right over your head.
www.ucsf.edu/.../still-confused-about-masks-heres-science-behind-how-face-masks-preventOr, you know, not stupid.
@okeydoke And I'm sure you've heard, Okeydokey, that there has been almost NO flu season and no adult humans are getting the common cold... WHY? Because masks prevent the spread of those illnesses AND everyone has washed the SKIN off their hands... over and over and regularly.People weren't doing this before, because of Covid 19, we've nearly wiped out the flu season AND the common cold... ALSO, please thank Clorox. Bleach. Don't you love that clean smell. And it works... If it didn't burn my sensitive human tissues, I'd bathe in it.Someone WILL make a bleach perfume. And make billions. It will sell the world over.A few botanicals thrown in and chlorine! The new fragrance to lure a sex partner: Chlorine One! They'll know you're bacteria and virus free! What could be MORE SEXY!
@Screenwriter Honest question:Is everyone you know wearing masks? I’d guess that a large percentage of people you meet everyday are either not, wearing them part time l, or wearing them incorrectly. Here in NYC that is the case, so I suspect wherever you are is the same. Let me be clear, many people in the United States are not and have never been following the recommended masking guidelines. The idea behind them is that those who have Covid (and other viral diseases) will have a lower chance of spreading infected droplets from their mouths and noses into the direct world around them. I don’t understand your hand washing or bleach rant, honestly. So I don’t know how or what to respond.
@okeydoke Was joking about the bleach and handwashing... but yes, here in New Orleans, people are wearing masks seriously. You can't go in any place of business without one on. From convenience stores to Wal mart. All my family wears masks because I have some sick relatives. Wore masks for Thanksgiving Dinner at my cousin's house. He's not in my pod.Outdoors, and the weather is mild right now, it's a mixed bag as to who does or doesn't. But people in the city abide by the rules.
@Screenwriter My mistake! Sarcasm is very hard to read in text. I’m glad to hear y’all are being safe!
@okeydoke Yes. This is why talking is still best if you can do it.
It’s good the mask mandates have lifted. 😊 During errands and shopping, I’ve spoken with the cashiers in their businesses. They’re not exactly fond of wearing masks either. That they have been speaking to their bosses about it.
I totally agree with what you put in parentheses. I live in Texas and I totally DON'T agree with what Gov. Abott. has announced just today... I will NOT be dining in any restaurants and WILL still be wearing a mask... if not double masking... lol.I know some fellow Texans are happy about being able to sit in at a Starbucks and not have to be wearing masks anymore but I'm not one of them.
Do Retardigans wear cardigans? But yes, anyone who denies science is exacerbating the problem.
Proving you know nothing about how masks are constructed.
@msc545 Ohhhhh, burrrrnnn!Read the labels on all of the boxes. "Will not protect against COVID-19."And, if masks work, then why does the number of new infections explode after mask mandates are put in place? You're probably a dirty "mask toucher."
Infections do not "explode" after mask mandates are in place - they decrease. That label on the box is there for legal reasons, not medical. The people that make the masks do not want to be sued if the person wearing one catches Covid anyway.I honestly do not give a fuck if you get Covid and die. All I care about is that you do not infect anyone else with your stupidity or with Covid.
@msc545 The fact that you're getting upset proves how illegitimate that your opinions are.The infections EXPLODED after the masks were mandated in the fall, and lasted until people finally got sick of wearing the damn things. You're probably a mask toucher super spreader.
Ok, don't wear a mask. See what happens to you and don't be a bitch when it does.
They will lie about their statistics, just as they have before.
But why would they ever lie to us? Lol
I don’t think they’re talking strictly about masks.
@Ilickvulvas I know.
Oh hey everyone! There’s a Youtube scientist over here!
Look at the numbers, they're clearly different. Unless you don't believe them
Where did you get your numbers. CNN?The cdc hasn't put out mortality rates for 2020.However many cities put out flu statistics and included covid. As well as mortalities as they came in.The numbers in most of those cities were very close to all the years prior.Only cities like New York had bloated mortalities and that's from Governor mandates that created a poor environment with no protections for the most vulnerable. And the stupid part is Cuomo gets a Nobel nomination. What a crock.
I'm terribly curious, though. There was a mask mandate. I'm sure there won't be drop deads everywhere. But on the radio I heard someone in Austin bemoaning this decision. A medical doctor. He was worried about such a move because it comes LONG before there is anything near "herd immunity." The reporter said 6 percent of Texans have been innoculated. SIX!!! In my state it's 15 percent and we've in modified phase 2! I understand the impetus behind it: get businesses rolling. Movie theatres are opening with 33 percent capacity, but masks are required inside, at least in MY little, backward state... (Lousyana) Churches have no max crowd size. Bars are reopened at 50%, 11 pm close times. 75% capacity restaurants.I don't see how THOSE levels are horrible! And you know, I went to my fave small pizza joint and saw that they didn't have new tables. The owner, a progressive guy said he wasn't adding any new tables because he couldn't keep safe spaces between them. And he's doing WELL ENOUGH!IF TEXAS HAD THAT ATTITUDE of self policing, it wil be fine. But does it! Kisses to you Flint, with your bad self!!
Why don’t we all just stop driving cars — I guarantee that will save more lives than STUPID covid restrictions. Funny, Florida has been open and has much less problems than those in the Northeast
@joesheks False equivalencies! False equivalencies everywhere!
What are you on about?
@ftewolde lifting restrictions does NOT equal more deaths, it equals LESS deaths, and take a look at the poll. The divergence was worse when I commented but still you can see that women are more trusting of so called 'officials' than men are. This is a big, big problem.
If women didn’t have the right to vote, there would be transgenderism, fake racism, illegal aliens flooding our borders, and democrats would never win the congress or the presidency again. Women and their feelings have caused men to stop using their brains to solve problems
No transgenderism *
@joesheks good points
