Smear tests, do you get yours regularly?

Just had my cervix ✨ violated ✨yet again.

Last time I had a cervical smear my results were abnormal and I had to get a biopsy. Turned out a okay. Im dreading my results this time but I did it anyways.

Ladies when was the last time you got your test? What was your experience?

Can you tell me more about this? What exactly is it for? Is it like highly recommended for women to do periodically? Did it hurt?

Sure a smear test should be done regularly (I believe every 3 years is recommended) if a woman is sexually active or has ever had penetrative sex. They use a tool that scrapes cells from the cervix which then gets sent off for testing to make sure there are no abnormalities like hpv which can cause cervical cancer.

It's uncomfortable, my cervix is quite sensitive so it hurts a bit for me. But not too bad.

I wish that more women would be more open, and trusting with their male companions, boyfriend/husband, whatever, about these things! It's not like we don't understand the process, the reasons, and importance! Same with breast exams!
And women, for your guys, getting the prostate check, and testicular cancer checks. We all know about these things, so why is it so 'hidden' and never talked about?

Yeah since I had an abnormal one last time (early last year) I've had to have another test a year later but I think if this is clear I'll be every 3 years

there's always hormonal supplements. i think of it as the same reason women get mastectomies voluntarily. i suppose it does have a mental impact, but most of the time reconstruction is successful anyways. cancer runs in my family
