I am 30 years old, weigh 179 lbs and tall 5'9. Currently in the alternating biceps curl i lift a maximum of 20 pounds for arm for 10 repetitions. My friend girl i go to the gym with tells me that i am weak. Is it a good load or my friend is right?
I'm sorry but my husband is 5'7", 190 lbs, he's 45, and can lift a transmission if it's not too heavy. Some weigh about 400 lbs, so he needs the forklift, but some are only generally 200. I can lift a transfer case which is about 50 lbs. BUT.. start low b/c doing too much at once screws up ur back. I have sciatica b/c of this shit and he has a lot of back issues too.
If you're a beginner, then that's absolutely fine. Go with a pace and build your body up. Don't let nobody bully you into hurting yourself very badly. When forced, workouts can become very detrimental

That's the amount of weight I was curling when I first started lifting at about 14 years old, weighing 110lbs. So yeah it's light.
If you're a beginner it's quite normal, but you should be aiming to increase the weight. If you train right you'll gain strength pretty quickly. You need to find a good routine to follow.
