Can I practice basketball barefoot?

In PE we play basketball. It's still summer and I don't want to wear sneakers. Is this a good idea?

I believe they will notice and might say something plus the floors are dirty and nasty

You could at least practice stationary shooting and dribbling. If you’re not running I can’t think of anything to be concerned about.
