Trending & News Some years ago I was doing an exercise called the back row. It looks like this:

In this exercise you are supposed to keep your back straight ( un curved) as much as possible and your butt out. I made the mistake of having my back a bit curved and also lifting heaver dumbbells than I was used to - 60 lbs - but I went for 80 lbs and after I was done I was in pain.
It took about a month or so to clear up but I was out of the gym for that time.
The thing with weight lifting is it is dangerous if you push too hard but most people think it is easy. They don't realize that there is a proper tempo , different bio mechanics for each exercise and that biting off more than you can chew can cause injury. Not to mention disregarding rest periods which is also dangerous ; the body needs time to repair it self (another mistake I have made is not taking days off).
The iron teaches you.
Pinched a nerve in my lower back squatting heavy weight. Didn't realize how bad it was until I woke up in the middle of the night. Easily some of the worst pain of my life.
I've done it before where I took a break with gyming and then jumped back in doing what I used to do and then pushed myself so hard that I couldn't move my arms or anything. I was never one for cardio so I always did heavy weights in short bursts. I used to do anywhere to 40-60 in arms and 140-180 in legs and apparently having aabout a year break and doing that again wasn't a great idea lol.
Never. Mainly because the gym i go to is the one the hotel has. And after a good workout and sweating, i leave feeling better than old paul over there coming into the hotel with mcdonald's as he waddles in and burps loudly from drinking all that orange juice. Embarrassed when he sees me, excuses himself and tries not to stare while hiding his growing red face.

No, thankfully because proper form is more important to me than ego lifting.
Had a near miss once. I was doing inclined presses with 80 lbs. dumbbells, no spotter. I did one too many reps and couldn’t control the dumbbells to the floor. Lost control over my chest and just pushed it away from my face, sending it directly toward my crotch. Ell oh ell! The weight crashed into the bench directly between my thighs, maybe an inch from my twig & berries. It tore through the leather bench covering like tissue paper. I’d have lost bits if it had hit me. In which case, i’d probably have wished i just let it hit me in the face! Ha!
Not since I started doing weights. Used to do a lot of cardio work in my youth, HIIT exercise etc and in my 20s I was always hurting myself and had a back problem. Then somebody suggested I do more weights. So I did the basic compound exercises you know squats, deadlines, curls, benches, overhead presses, rows etc with barbells and dumbells starting light and building up the weight and results were astounding. Not only did I get stronger and put on more muscle but I stopped getting injured, my back problems went away. No more joint or muscle pains. I still did my cardio and I actually was faster and better. I became much more ripped
The only Injury I had was whilst changing a 10kg weight ends. Someone must of left it loose so I got up the bench to add a 5kg.. that was the time the 10kg weight dropped on my toe. It cracked my toe (luckily didn't break) but had a fat ass bruise which I couldn't walk for 2 weeks. Funny side is that I didn't go hospital but rather just went home and rested. It became better in 3 weeks most.
I arrive at gym & do lat pull downs on new machine. The old one you could change the weights while pulling the pin. I didn’t know you couldn’t with new one.
While seated I reach over pull pin. BONK the bar smashes top of my head. Actually split it open. I looked around embarrassed but apparently nobody saw or they were hiding laughter I just left.
no... but I did suffer an injury for not going to the gym...
and got to lift heavy shit without the proper technique lmao...
I feel you😂😂
"snapped" my lower back really badly
literally, every move I made for the next 60 hours hurt me to the core of my soul... lol
Ouch... do you ever avoid doing that now? It's perhaps best if people change their routine to Cardio/treadmill instead
what I avoided is to think that I am Superman lmao...
if I have to move or lift something it will be with proper form and technique
so no, other than that... I've had not have any injuries in years and years (knocking on wood)
Well that's good :)
My pride lol. I was running on the treadmill when a very attractive woman walked in front of me.
I got distracted, did not pay attention to what I was doing while having the machine at a level where I was sprinting and I ended up falling off the treadmill lol
No but my knees hurt constantly. I can't bend down or crouch because of the pain. But I push through it on butt day. My shoulders sometimes hurt too. Mostly when I do my triceps.
Never exercising at the gym. I did dislocate my finger in high school gym class playing basketball, and rolled my ankle playing intramural volleyball in college.
Not weights but like volleyball practice at a gym yes my shoulder muscles hurt every time I overuse them its been like 5 months. Its because I practiced too much serving
At the gym, instructors and trainers will guide you so that you don't get hurt.
I don't listen to them. I have a hugee ego
Not at the gym but at home. Before I knew how to train safely 🤣
Most of the time I am either recovering from an injury, trying hard to avoid any more injuries and hurting myself.
I don't recall it, probably a long time ago if any.
I think that's because I train and stretch frequently.
Never. The only exercise injury I've ever had is a strain or my left plantar fascia while running.
Yes, but it's been awhile. Currently nursing an injured rotator cuff (same I had surgery on years ago).
Yes when I was doing curls for forearms.. suddenly my balls hurt.. and I suffered premature ejaculation problem for few days.. I think my form was wrong.. it was painful
Yes I guess, Apparently I didn’t drink enough water so a got a really bad leg cramp, and well uh, you could see it, it went down after a couple days but it was a scary and painful experience.
One muscle pull 25 years ago not a big deal I wasn’t warned up
Not an immidiate one but I overexerted my shoulders once resulting in a few days of neck pain.
At home and at work yes
Not that I seen
no not really
