    oooops... Well, give yourself heat and cold compresses and do very SLOW gradual stretches. Take warm baths using epsom salts or any muscle oriented soaks. Take aspirin or ibuprofen: whatever works for you. If you haven't recovered in two weeks, see a doctor.

    I 've only once pulled my back and it was because of "A" weight. Was pulling myself out of a pool with a scuba tank on my back and the difference between the weightlessness of the tank in the water and its actual weight when I pulled myself up the pool ladder was drastic...

    But in a week or two the soreness abated and I was fine. Taught me a valuable lesson though. Be VERY kind to yourself when lifting anything heavy. Do it gradually: meaning if it's a heavy weight, work your way up to it.

    Don't lift weights for your recovery week or ten days. Do gentle stretching and walk, bike or swim. If you hurt during ANY of these activities. Stop. Let that back fully recover.

    You'll probably be a sore and tender once you go back to lifting, so lift LESS THAN YOU DID BEFORE and slowly work your way up or you'll re-injure yourself and WILL have to see a sports medicine doctor. Good luck.

      Ask your doctor about using resistance bands after the first icing days. That was what finally allowed my neck to start healing. Get the blood flow to the muscles and irritated bits and pieces in a gentle way.

    No. Most often it comes from really simple shit. One day, I was in the bathroom and bent over very slightly to wash my hands in the sink and my back went out! Another day years later, I walked 3 or 4 step in the dining room and had the most excruciating pain I've ever had to deal with! I WAS on my way to my chiropractor!! When I finally got the chance to call him up, I told him, "either cure me or kill me, I really don't care which, right now!!"
