Have you ever hurt your back?

I was in a car crash and now have inverted curvature of the spine, it's inoperable (beyond intentional paraplegia to protect other organs for damage) and will obviously eventually put me in a wheelchair
Same but they went in through the back and side took a rib to crush and pack into the cage and rebar surrounding what was left of my spine. I was in a chair for six months. A spinal stimulator implanted has given me enough relief from the pain to get off the drugs. Still use morphine for breakthrough pain though. Ask them about getting one! Best of luck!
Sounds interesting but probably too expensive for me because it'll probably take going private
@jamesgoldman @josephinelcajon
Both of you that is so much to go through. James I hope you are able to avoid that fate.
I hope so but I'm not confident, I know what the private physio the insurance paid for charged for the consultation alone
I have seen how bad our medical financial side can be! Let's take a simple tens unit that cost only $20.00 online this same unit prescribed by your doctor goes through your insurance and then ordered by a durable medical equipment company. But they order it from the supplier. I saw the final bill for nearly $900.00 !
It is extremely expensive in the $30K range.
So £25k ballpark that's take me 4 years to earn with no expenses or in real terms more like 40 by which point I'll be in the ground
I understand! 😔 Health care is a worldwide problem! We as humans should be able to provide everyone with medical, food and housing as the basic needs to survive!
Yeah but vast overpopulation doesn't allow it
And that is why we are in a mass de-population plan/agenda by the 1%
Correct
A fractured lumbar section of the spine, broken neck, C2 - C7. Fractured pelvis. Yeah, you might say I have backaches.
Goodness, you’ve had to heal a lot of injuries.
You are welcome.

Yeah, I was in a pretty bad car accident at 19 and as a result have had various procedures on my back. Nothing really helped much and I suffer chronic pain every day, but some days aren't as bad. I just suck it up, swallow a boat load of painkillers and get on with it 😂
I see a chiropractor and a deep massage therapist regularly to keep me in check, yeah there are some days when it's really bad and I can't do things but mostly I managed to find a way, it doesn't help being tall either, so I've adapted my home so I don't need to bend down for much.
long time ago, yes... when I was 19
those were my Superman days, in which I could lift anything by myself and move then around no matter how heavy or robust it was
and of course I was wrong, one day I lost my balance and, on not wanting to break expensive cargo... I saved it, but messed up my lower back so bad that I spent four days in a row in bed with some excruciating pain shivering through all of my being every time I moved
that sure was a fun week... lol
I never went to a doctor nor took any pills, thought I deserved it for being that dumb... lol
Learning lessons the hard way. Done it myself.
Not permanently. Being an avid basketball player I've had my share of sprained backs and back spasms. But nothing seemingly permanent. I say that because the last year. I've been forced to be more sedentary than I'm accustomed to. I broke both feet and apparently developed an abdominal hernia. I'm trying to get back to "normal" without aggravating the abdominal hernia. Not sure if it's reduced use that is causing the back pain (I think it is as it lessens the more I use it). The fact that it's lessening makes me think it's not permanent either. But I've been dealing with it for months which is much longer than I'm accustomed to.
I hope you heal up completely. Best to get them behind you. I was told mine stuck because of repeat injury during the first healing process. This has been the longest stretch since it last acted up. Thought it was gone.
While horse riding once oh and while dancing, before a competition my dance partner swung me in the air for a 180 lift but he wasn't focusing and fooling around and held me wrong and gripped the wrong area and dropped me when he realized what he was doing. I hurt my back pretty bad but it wasn't as bad as the horse riding incident.
Gah. It’s hard not to be upset about something like that. What were you doing while riding?
Oddly, I've never had pains in the back of this sort; it's something I have difficulty relating to with people my age and also my wife who sometimes gets them in her lower back. I did fracture my tailbone one time though and that was horrible. I couldn't sit down without a cushion for weeks.
You are pretty active too, no? I think those of us in sports tend to bounce back more quickly.
Can only imagine the tailbone. Yikes! Donut cushion at the ready.
Reasonably so, although not quite as much during COVID as before. I tend to train hard but not so much these days for long periods of time. One chronic problem I have is arthritic flares here and there in joints.
That tail cushion was really embarrassing because I was in high school at the time. I had to carry with me to class in order to sit down while lots of people teased me for it. :-D
I can only imagine. I would have been feeding the laughs.
Not making fun of you. Didn’t mean it like that. lol
I don't mind. I was silly anyway. I ended up fracturing it in a really dumb way trying to show off to some girls watching me. Then I pretended like I wasn't in any pain while they asked me if I was all right, and I tried to continue skating after and tried a little bit but couldn't. Then the following week I had to show up to class with that donut cushion. :-D
Boys will be boys. lol
Actually, all my worst injuries during my teens were from trying to show off to girls and also being distracted. I was one of those types where if a pretty girl waved to me on the sidewalk, I'd look and wave back only to run face-first into a signpost, e. g.
That must be a common question in the ER. “Was it a girl?”
Definitely would have been a legit one in my case! :-D
Or in my case, maybe, "Was it a pretty girl again?"
lol That does sound better.
Oh no! I hope you recover quickly.
One time I was tucking in the bedsheet and felt a pop. I dropped to my knees and wasn't sure if I could get back to my feet. I made it up, but my back was sore for 4 days. Otherwise, I consider myself very lucky not to have to deal with back issues like most people.
Ouch! And such a simple/common thing you were doing. 🤪 (TY too)
I know 😂 I always say, "My mother didn't name me Grace."
lol You just gave me an image of you yanking and ripping the fitted sheet “Damn. There does another one.” 😁
It wasn't even that much. lol. I was tucking in a flat sheet.
I was teasing. lol
That’s offensive it was the flat and not fitted. 😭
Ikr!
Oh gawd yeah. I use to lift HEAVY weights as opposed to using them for toning like I do now, and one occasion I twisted something but it wasn't that bad. The next day there was a knock at the door and as I was on my way downstairs, I got locked unable to move in excruciating pain.
I was stuck there for hours. Never did find out who it was that knocked! The pain lasted about 3 weeks though.
Slipped disk? That killed a Thanksgiving one year. That is brutal.
Possibly. At the time I was locked I was thinking it would never heal, but looking back I think it was just a bad sprain. I've been pretty careful since though.
I used to have big time back problems. I would bend or twist the wrong way and than I would be in pain for weeks after. I had been good for about 10 years until last November when it came back. I spent a week flat on my back whacked out on pain pills but it did get better.
I wonder what grants such long periods in between?
I used to run a lot and I never used to stretch. I could run a marathon in a little over 3 hours but had trouble going down a flight of stairs. I gave up running years ago because of too many injuries. I got a new hip a year ago and maybe walking differently caused my back to act up again.
Ah, yes. Doing something different makes sense.
I pinched a nerve in my back and almost called 9-1-1. Luckily my mom gave me an alternative, high powered pain relievers (overdosing on extra strength Aleve). It only took me 30 minutes to go to the room where it was when it usually takes less than 5.
Oh yeah. The extra effort it takes to do simple things.
Many times
Fell down stairs, tried to save a rather heavy woman who couldn't get up, a rather inconvenient soccer accident, tripping because my messed up knee, slipping on frozen stairs and other times as well
You’ve been through a lot. 😲
Really?
Honestly this stuff happens to me all the time I kind of live near a really dangerous road where people have been known to get hit by cars quite frequently. Also the place where I live gets really icy or really wet which means 90% of the year the ground is either mud or ice and I am clumsy.
No need to feel bad though honestly cuz I'm fine and it doesn't bother me
Okay good. Take care of you.
Every few years, usually in the Sprong, I tweak the right side if my back. It's sore for about a week before the pain goes away. I first got it when I slipped in the shower and caught myself before I fell.
Similar with this one.
Aggravated my back no, but I had scoliosis when I was 16 which was corrected but because of poor posture and constantly cracking my lower back in unconventional ways, I can recognize the size that my back is pretty messed up again
Do you go to a chiropractor?
Yes three fractures, gymnastics is a rough sport
The ache… I feel your pain.
Oh no! Hope you get some relief soon. I like BioFreeze patches. I’ve injured my sciatic nerve twice. That was awful both times.
Nerve damage is brutal.
I crashed three hours, woke up and my back had realigned in sleep. Just the tissue damage hurts much less. Grateful. To think of your injuries.. I am lucky.
I have tried the bio-freeze. Had a horrible headache after them each try. So just use regular ice/moist heat.
Yes it was an injury sustained when I was hit by a car years ago. It gradually got worse over the years. A year and 1/2 ago I finally had some hardware installed & a fusion on my lower back
I thought of you when I was posting this. That’s a lot. Does it flare on you from time to time?
Oh, great! 👍🏻👍🏻
Oh yes. I have physically job, constantly lifting. My back hurts less today, but last week it did. And I also pinched my sciatica 3 times, the worst. All we can do i try to strengthen our abs and backs. I stretch every morning.
If you are lifting regularly do you feel you bounce-back quickly?
Not really. Because I still go into work with that pain. So technically not healing fast enough. Keep using same muscles. But O try to reduce the amount of work I do, and relax more. I also try to train at home. Which might , or might not help. Vicious cycle. But I do last longer without injuries. Crazy how a slight movement can hurt you.
It is true that.
Once I hurt my back by picking up two loafs of bread
Annoying! I know someone who did it reaching for a remote control on a coffee table.
I was stuck in the bent over position for a few hrs. I could not straightened up and that was 20 years ago
Crazy how something can shut you down like that.
Of course... being an adult isn't nice so times. But ey, i'll tell you what pain i like. ;D
Working out so funkin' hard I feel the burn for three days. Loool... hurts so good. ;w;
yes sadly, I couldn’t bend down or back for a couple of weeks🥲😭
Oh, my. That was bad!!
lol yes, worst part is I pretty much did it to myself😂
I should ask. @bigpauly needs all the ammo he can get.

Yup., C3/C4 with osteoarthritis from an old whiplash injury and a herniated L4/L5. I had some issues with my middle back late last year but I think I managed to heal it almost completely.
I got a bad back and knees and im young and my knees pop loud as fuck with each step and go bad quick off to much physical activity
Did you injure them to start that?
Yeah i did early on with my knees when i was 20 and i hurt my back early at 23 and it has never been the same since. But i don't bend over for much and i don't do to much o
Physical activity or else my knees swell for weeks and the fluid needs. to be released in my knees. I refuse surgery so i deal with it. But you can always hear my knees crunching from w mile away haahaa
I get that. I’m like you on surgery too.
Not the I can recall. My spine is probably the soundest part of my body. Of course I always lift with the knees.
Smart!
I'm 6'7, my life is defined with constant back pain, I even officially got diagnosed with chronic scoliosis
Sorry to hear that. That’s awful. I have someone 6’7 in my life too, no back issues, thank goodness.
I have daily back pain from neck and back injuries. It’s for life I guess and I have good days and bad days. Oh well… 😬
Why is life putting you through the wringer? Pain each day sounds so tough. 🥺🤗 Maybe get that new tractor sooner than later?
Life/God has been toughening me up since early childhood. It’s paid off many times. While there are some things I’d definitely prefer to have different, my life has taught me and prepared me adequately so far!
Yes I’m drooling over the prospect of a new tractor and have been for years lol
Challenges do have a way of making us tougher. Sounds like you’ve earned that. 🚜
Lol just need a couple bucks
Can’t win lotto if you don’t play lotto. 😁
Lmao 🤣 truth! I play the blue collar lotto
Awww sorry to hear. Hope you’re better soon.
I’ve only had small injuries here and there with my back luckily
Thank you. Yes, learn from others mistakes if you can. lol
I have recently. Since 35, every other year it spasms and seizes up.
It’s a pain in the arse too.
Well….
I’ve had a couple of pinched nerves lower back were you bend
Yeah, that sounds painful.
Yeah, I was doing squats and I had bad form along with too much weight. Messed up my back really bad for a while.
Well I was hit by a truck when i was 14. On a major road. Don't remember anything after leaving a Pizza Hut and waking up in a hospital. Seen a chiropractor for about a year until my mom's insurance ran out.
Yep, many times. Worse is when i sneeze when leaning over.
Yeah, managed to throw my back out 2 times while sneezing
Yeah, My back hit corner of a chair in bus, it bleeded for 6 months. After I went to body massage, it stop bleeding.
Oh yes sometimes I be laying the wrong way and my back could end up hurting afterwards.
Yeah. I hurt my back everyday I carry his big dick around
I recommend a pain killer?
What pain meds do you use?
It's still hurt. Paraspinal compression
Ouch. Heal up soon. I made the bad choice to put a big bottle of water in a backpack too soon. The back takes time.
Not hurt by something but pain yes when fap used to get more that it should be for me
Not that it matters but yes I have
It matters. Which is why I asked.
It doesn’t matter that I hurt my back like I said
Ok. You are far to negative, so stepping out of convo.
*too
No I’m not
Yes I have, it didn't stay though
I did while exercising.
yes and it sucks, takes Forever to feel normal...
Yep. Because I used my back not my legs
Yes and it is not fun. :-(
a few times it's fused right now
Never
Damn the youth.
I hear you God bless you
Yeah from all that riding dick
Often.
