From December 2005 to May 2009, I began my career working in avionics. During that time, I had a boss who was a very quiet and mellow guy. Before he worked for our company, he had been in both the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force. (He preferred the Marines.) He was only 4 years older than me (to the day; we share the same birthday) and was in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 (this is when the US and allies fought against Iraq who had invaded Kuwait in August 1990). We got along very very well.
Well, I was newly working for him in 2006 and he noticed that I was stressed-out about something related to our work.
He said, very calmly: "You know what stress is?"
I replied: "No. Go ahead."
He said: "Stress is when they are shooting at you."
I laughed and said "You have a point."
But, ever since then, it changed how I handled stress.
I still get uptight and stressed out a bit, but my ability to deal with it and my view of life changed.
So, remember, no matter how bad or stressful things may seem, at least no one is literally trying to kill you.
I live my life by 2 rules
1. Don't worry about the small things in life.
2. Everything in life is small.😂
I borrowed this philosophy from a friend of mine long ago. It may sound nonsensical, but the reality is there is a lot in life outside your control. I'm not saying you should use this as an excuse to give up, or not try. But accept that some battles you're just not going to win. Regroup and attack life a different way.
I'm glad you avoid negative people. Negativity is a disease. I always like to say you can't always control what challenges life throws at you. But you absolutely can control how you respond to them. Being happy is a choice. Choose happiness. Let your light shine and you'd be amazed how many people will be drawn to that light. And doing so you give them the encouragement to let thier light shine. Life is short. Don't spend it choosing unhappiness.
Oh without a doubt where you start is relative. I'm not going to tell someone starving in Africa "just be happy". But life is struggle where ever you. Sometimes it's a life and death struggle. But I do believe God blesses us in different ways EVERYWHERE. I'm just saying be aware of your blessings and never quit fighting for a better life.

I cut of all the roots that brought me stress and those roots are a so called ""friends"" I dumped them, all of them, my step father ( he was a big piece of walking anger and hate) and slave job. The first cut is the most difficult one, but after you experience relieve, I promise you, you will cut all possible stress related roots out faster than it took you to cut of the very first one out.
Take up exercise, and focus on my goals. I don't take things personally, I think we add a lot of stress to our lives, by take things personally. Stay away from negative people. Also stay away of toxic workplaces, toxic bosses.
If I feel I am working a toxic workplace, I leave immediately, regardless of situation, because working in toxic enviroment or having a toxic relationship can damage you.
Stay away toxic people, and toxic enviroments.
I am lucky in that I do not really suffer from stress, but I agree with your avoidance method. Those that spread negativity can really mess up a team. I have other issues and I’m pleased stress is not one of them.

I try not to let it get to me, sometimes it can’t be helped but usually I’m pretty chilled. Exercise helps, when I’m playing sport I don’t think of anything else
I find relief at the end of the day and make sure my day has balance. If I'm stressed I take more breaks and plan ahead for extra stressful situations.
I practise yoga, meditation and listen to music to reduce stress. And I bitch about negative people with my best friend
