I damaged my Adams apple when I was 16 and now I have a Fifteen year old Unbroken voice?

My voice broke when I was thirteen. I had a deep Mono-toned voice. Typical of that if any teenid suppose. However at the age of 15 I was involved in a car accident, as a pedestrian crossing the road. I ruptured my Adams Apple, and sound like a Young Preteen due to the rupture. Can this be fixed?

Dude, that's super rough about your accident and messing up your Adam's apple. I can't imagine still sounding like a kid at your age. A few thoughts on what might help:

- Definitely talk to your doctor about it. Since it's been years, they may be able to refer you to a specialist like an ENT (ear, nose, throat doctor) to assess the damage and see if there are any repair options. Technology has come a long way, so they might be able to surgically fix it now.

- Look into voice therapy or coaching too. Even if they can't fully "fix" it physically, they may be able to teach you techniques to speak from your diaphragm more and sound a little deeper naturally through practicing.

- Own it for now if you can't change it just yet. I know that's way easier said than done at 15, but try not to let it bother you too much. Your peers will get used to it.

- Nothing wrong with just explaining to folks what happened if they comment on your voice. Show you're comfortable with it.

Hopefully the doctors can help. If not, at least know this isn't forever - your body will continue developing in other ways as you get older too. Just focus on being yourself, dude. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Do you sing ever? Like on a piano if one were to go from an higher octave and down (do si la so fa me rae do...) how low can you go? I'm curious at this point.

Singing at the lowest octave made my high voice get lower. I could technically get low but it was difficult.

Can you do it?

Took me more than a year, forgot how long, but it was a long time. It was really bad, I would do it at first and almost CHOKE! Scary at first. When I would sing after a while, ALL from "tongue thrusting" after a while, I would choke, have to drink a big swallow of water to be able to breath again and lose my voice for quite a while.

I used to be able to do this really high-pitched giggle until I got a nasty cold at a funeral about 6 or 7 years ago. Because of all the coughing I had to do, it ripped the shit out of my throat and I lost my voice for a few days. When I finally got it back, I was no longer able to make that high-pitched giggle anymore. I can come close to it but I can't get to it! Although, I've noticed recently that I'm getting closer to it! Maybe, soon, I'll have my full range back, again. I think I used to have an 8 octave range but it's now down to about 6. Even though we're both the same height, I've never been able to get Lurch deep but, Ted's throat is bigger around than mine so, that helps him get way down there. Maybe, if I never had pneumonia those 3 times as a kid, I could've got down there, too.

Yes. You can get surgery. Also don’t believe any women if they say it’s fine or they don’t care. You should absolutely get surgery.
