Here are our options 1) We ban cameras 2) allow them and not get so angry (or fake angry) if someone steps in the way 3) We start our own gyms at home where we can control almost everything 4) least likely option, if it's NOT a 24 hour gym, we ask staff if we can film after closing - and get permission. 4B) - if it IS a 24 hour gym, we go at like 2am, when very few people are there (preferably we STILL try to get permission & we STILL don't get upset if someone accidentally walks in front of the camera, especially if you don't notice a small camera at a weird floor angle or tucked and propped up on a machine)).
For me yes. Its already bad enough that im 189 cm and very poor self asteem going to the gym is hard enough. Let alone women saying to you that your creeping on them. That would the worst nightmare ever to be put on a tiktok especially to begin with as a person of colour. So many men before me have been accused of creeping on women. And I also feel strong about this too how some women just paint men as creeps. IM also going into nursing as well as a women dominated field, won't let that stop me im doing me and helping other humans
Why do gymnasiums even exist? You don't need fancy gym equipment in order to stay in shape, and as I understand it, even just going to the gym can be embarrassing enough for some people. Where I live, there is a park near a lake that has FREE gym equipment for anyone to use at any time, so I just use that :) Hell, even just going for long walks is beneficial.
I feel like people should be able to record themselves in the gym if they only record themselves/people who have given them permission, do not take up too much space, or get upset at people walking in the frame.

It’s not about recording themselves, it’s about recording others. If they can’t record themselves without recording others or interfering with others’ use of common spaces and equipment, they should be paying those other members’ dues or recording devices should be banned.
Yes, for a couple of reasons...
1. The video is also recording others, not just yourself, and that is a violation of their privacy.
2. Some gym equipment can be dangerous if not used properly. Being distracted by the video recording is similar to texting while driving... you can hurt yourself and others.
I don’t think cameras should be totally banned from the gym (recording yourself can be really useful in tracking progress) but there is proper etiquette. Don’t intentionally record other people and understand that you are in a public setting so you can’t get upset if someone accidentally (or intentionally) walks in front of it. Shame on the people that try to humiliate other people in the gym that way tho, they should get banned for that.
It's a private business, so the business owner can make whatever rules about recording they want mostly. But in general I don't think banning is required, just any actual rules about it posted somewhere clearly visible. That seems to be the main issue that there aren't any rules about it, so it's all down to personal opinion.
Easier solution ban women from gyms so men don't have to deal with their false allegations
Yes recording should be banned in gyms - unless they have an enclosed area for those who want to video their workout, or they've got permission from the gym owner and do not interfere with anyone else who are in the gym.
Those who record their workouts should be put on notice that if they cause any problems they'll be banned at the first instance.
Some gyms I think already have a policy that says not to. Posting a selfie is ok, but other than that I think there is no need to record videos of yourself. Or in some people's cases, of anybody else.

Absolutely! I don't mind those occasional selfie posing individuals, what irritates me the most are those TikTok/youtubers who believe they own the gym and the space around them and no one can walk, move or exercise around them!

So apparently, they are not there to work out, but for attention from making TikTok or YouTube videos. Plus they could film others too which might be a privacy violation.
Just work out at home. Stop paying gyms monthly fees. Obviously the services they are offering are unenjoyable, so stop paying them for causing you problems. Let them go out of business.
That "influencer" should be banned from the gym for disturbing other people who are just trying to work out.
Put up signs - no recording allow in this gym. This will be part of the gym sign up agreement soon enough.
They can't enforce such rules.
What they need to do is have separate sites for such people who do not want to interact with others.

No. Not if recording themselves... only if recording others... There is free will and no harm. Recordings may be used for educational or Journaling purposes to track progress.
In my university’s gym recording is strictly forbidden and i think i approve. Less headaches.
