The pros is that the process in lean mass gain is much slower than bulking. But the pro is you don’t really gain unwanted mass.
What are is your preferred regimen?
This is my current physique from 8 weeks of doing recomp.

I just lift weights and try not to eat crap... I do drink a lot of beer though... straight up alcoholic I'm not going to lie. But I don't think it hurts me too bad.

I sort of think the dieting fads are pointless. I mean, I'm not going to tell someone that in order to look like me, you have to drink a 12-pack of 9.5% alcohol beer and tons of meat every day and lift in the 6 to 12 rep range for four sets.
Honestly, I'm just doing more than a guy that drinks the 12-pack of 9.5% alcohol, eats chips and spaghetti and doesn't do shit on most days but jerk off to Loli porn.
I'll put it like this... if you're doing anything at all as far as lifting goes, you're already doing way the fuck more than the average chump. It's going to show.
And I bet you have a few dudes in your circle of friends... they do jack shit and just... would be better off if they lifted something 3 days a week at least.
Bottom line, I lift almost every day and that's why I look the way I look despite no diet and drinking more beer than most people can handle. The results obviously come from the lifting and not the diet. Just prioritize the lifting over all else. If you're not getting results then start lifting twice a day and you'll see results twice as fast. No need for getting on gear or changing a bunch of shit like those chicken and rice assholes.
I should make an ad.

I used to be "recomping" "maingaining" or whichever cringe words they use for trying to grow while staying lean, for about 20 years. I was always lean but now reading enough studies and other scientific shit like an autistic basement dweller convinced me that surpluses are beneficial as long as you don't take them too far. It's like every animal out there, not just bears who hibernate, go through cycles of fattening up for winters or reproduction related shit. And especially with the availability of drugs and knowledge of safe use of them, I don't shy away from swallowing a ton of food in short frames.
@Gym_Bro Man is literally made for periods of fasting, dehydration, and shitty diet. If the body gets the signals that it has to be stronger to survive, it will figure out a way to do it. I mean lets look at bones for a second.
They too will change shape when stressed. The average Mui Thai fighter isn't hitting his shin on shit for nothing. It's like when I was punching solid blocks of wood... I wasn't getting stronger as far as muscle mass goes, but I did develop a punch that would send friends into cry mode if I punched them in the shoulder. Back to muscle...
Just like other parts of the body, it's going to respond. I've never looked into jelking, but I bet that shit actually works.
@gym_bro @d_bone_steak, I'm not sure if I'm stronger because of my steady sugar diet, but I can endure all kinds of suffering, as in this twisted version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," in which I am the one receiving 12 lashings, 11 candy canes in every hole, 10 nipple clamps on my nuts, 9 homosexuals a-leaping on me, 8 coks a cooming, 7 ball gags, 6 icicles on my nipples, 5 golden rings chocking me, 4 butt plugs made from ginger roots, 3 French hens pecking my piss hole 2 turtle doves shoved into my rectum, and a dildo in a pear tree, which, in this case, is me, with my head tied to my ankles and a Christmas tree shoved in my chocolate starfish.
@Elf_Erectus That would equal 11 candy canes, 4 butt plugs made from ginger roots and 2 turtle doves... and a Christmas tree... all in the same hole. That's 18 items and 18 is legal in most states.
I'm naturally as you see - I don't even go gym except shopping bags lol or odd tasks around the house/daily life.
Man, I'm very blessed. See those collar bones in my avatar and my neck? All natural 😁 ladies ♀️🙂
Yes. The other day I was driving in my car and stopped at a traffic light. I looked to my right and there was a horse with the biggest & thickest erect penis I've ever saw. I was instantly wet and completely transfixed. I was startled by the honking of a horn from the car behind me as I'd missed the green light.
Bro wtf?
I don't know about any of that but damn... Nice bod.
Thanks hun 😏
Basically the difference is that recomp is eating just the right amount of calories to slowly build muscle but also keep unwanted weight off.
Whereas with bulking and cutting, bulking builds lots of muscle very fast due to a surplus of calories but this also usually leads to fat gain. And then cutting is to lean out afterwards

There's no real need for me to cut since I'm naturally already pretty cut there is barely any fat on my body and what little fat is there melts away once I get into the groove of working out and eating right again.
So I primarily focus on bulking when I do workout I don't do it as much anymore though because I do hard labor for a living so every day is a workout basically.
I do a lot of short HIIT workouts nowadays. I keep records of my progress. Actually just PR’d last night with one of them.
Nice, what was the PR?
It’s for a workout called PONY. You start with 19 50lb KB swings and 1 burpee. Then 18 swings and 2 burpees. I try to get as far as I can in 20 minutes. Starts easy and kills you at the end.
I made it to round 18 of burpees last evening. I was dying afterwards.
I have just lost 15 pounds over the last 5 months. I seem to have more muscle as well , I certainly have gotten a little stronger. It is a lot harder to build muscle over 50.
According to your definition, I am a recomp
You’re slowly increasing your strength and endurance without compromising your body fat percentage? Then yes.
I've been in something of a ~8 year bulking phase. I'm ready to start harvesting any day now.
