2020 total of nine months.
Admitted for treatment for an infection in my foot, transferred to another hospital due to Covid where one toe was amputated. Then had to be transferred again because the hospital was designated for Covid.
Three months down...
Quarantine for 2 weeks then transferred to a general ward for IV antibiotics intended for 6 weeks. Quarantine for the guy brought in after me didn't stop him carrying Covid into the ward two weeks later. By the end of the next week I was in ICU with average blood oxygen of 75% - technically incompatible with life. Put on life support. 3 months in a coma, then had to be resuscitated for 4 hours. Woke up after another 2 weeks.
Three weeks later I'd been sent to a recovery wing, where the infection in my foot recurred. Leg amputated below the knee. Sent back to recovery wing. Discharged 2 months later after 9 months hospital treatment with a prosthetic leg and a wheelchair.
What was the underlying cause?
Yes, once for gunshot and a month for a car wreck, pickup actually. Then there was many overnight or 2 day things.
Howdahell did you get shot?
It was a hunting accident. I had turned 15 and after getting a plug of tobacco while putting it back in my front shirt pocket the gun slid off my shoulder and as I went to catch it by the barrel unit hit the ground and went off hitting the edge of my hand. It wasn't my 4/10 but the father of a friend and it was much longer and a bolt action.
Nope. I was there for one day overnight when I delivered our baby, and that's the only time I've ever been admitted in a hospital
