Girls, Would You Date A Man Who Plays Video Games All Day?

Question

Hobbies say a lot about a person. When I was in college, I could never meet any women, because I was a massive gamer. I used to game all day long with the guys and a couple of nerdy women.

At some point, after college, I gave up video games. Not because of women, just because I got bored of playing day in and day out.

After I quit gaming and started picking up other activities - boxing, yoga, meetup groups, soccer, basketball and getting out there in the world, I started meeting women. Of course, I also used to do print modeling for some companies... so maybe my looks helped a little.

Anyway, here is my question to you ladies:

Would you date a man that doesn't have very many hobbies and just sat around and played video games all day during his free time?

i was a gamer myself too, exactly like you, during university.
i had my gamer community in real life, we met in the bar sometimes to hang out.

a full day gamer 🎮 is too much of a no-lifer for most of the people. a gamer understands a gamer. n noone else 😅

my group was actually a bunch of extroverts ended up playing mmo.
one of my friend is really introverted, he's social life is pretty much like nothing. whatever that he's gaming or not.

✴ during the years of gaming i found out that the problem with constant gaming is that you won't have a perspective in your life.
then don't expect a woman be interested in you if you don't have real goals in your life

Okay but here's the thing. I spend most of my weekends playing video games. Like I full on play Skyrim, Overwatch and Dragon age and stuff. However on the other days I'm out there slaying like if I didn't wear nerdy t shirts and stuff you wouldn't have known that I've been playing World of Warcraft since I was 7. I make sure that my weight is kept in check and stuff though. So I guess if he took at least a little time odd playing video games, kept his looks up and stuff I'd be cool with it. As long as he doesn't cut into my game time

If he has a job and we play together. If he has no job then no way! but I'm a teenager so whaddya I know? I would want a guy who had a stable job then I could understand his reasons for playing but I think he should have other hobbies as well. Its boring to do one thing all day long, I like drawing but you don't see me staying up till 3 drawing stuff all day long!

If he literally played ALL his free time, then definitely no, because he needs to have time for me as well. But for playing to be his only hobby wouldn't be bad. My boyfriend trains to be an e-sport pro, so I'm used to gaming being a big part of his life, but he always has time for me.

No, because it's a sign if an addiction if he plays on video games ALL day , and shows lack of interest in anything else. I'd become bored within the relationship

I enjoy playing video games, but not to the extreme of playing on them all day everyday.

My SO is in his 30's so playing video games ALL day isn't something I'd expect from an emotionally and mentally mature adult.

I'm a gamer, myself. I often play on my days off of work. That being said, I do not play all day. I go for walks, I read, write or draw. Some days I'll hang out with friends.
If a guy had no drive to do anything except play games, I would have some serious concerns, especially if he's not working.

Uhm, I like playing video games, and if I have a new game I like, I could sit all day myself. But I do take regular breaks, and I make sure it doesn't distract me too much from socialising, and doing daily tasks (I try to at least...). If we'd sit in all day some days playing together it could be very fun, or just watching him play. But I don't think I'd date a man who sit in absolutely all day, not doing anything else.

I would have no problem dating someone who enjoys playing video games, but if that's ALL he wants to do, then I don't see it working out. Relationships take time and they require compromise. If he never wants to spend quality time with me or explore their hobbies that I enjoy, then we will have not have much of a relationship to speak of. Plus, if video games are all he's into, we won't have much in common.

Eh past experiences, it will only work if thats what you're both interested in. I am a very outdoorsy person, so it did not work for me we would get into arguments when we had plans and he wouldn't leave his game and wind up making us late or simply wouldn't make plans because of the game.. does not work for me

I already do. Lol. Plus, my ex also was a huge gamer. I am a gamer too, but not as heavy as him. And the reason why I don't mind is it's safe and relatable. Plus, there is nothing sweeter than a battle of the sexes.

It's great you found your new hobbies, but it doesn't make you better or worse than your fellow man.

Eh, if video games was the only thing going for him then probably not. My boyfriend spends quite a bit of his free time at home playing video games, but he's not on them all the time considering he still has work and spends time with me and his friends.

I've had a boyfriend who prioritized gaming over everything else, including our relationship. That relationship didn't last long.

I don't think I would. Liking video games and playing it a lot is ok but having only video games as a hobbies and doing nothing else isn't.
Nowadays I play video games all afternoon before going to my work and after I eat, watch tv then work out and read a bit. I do a lot of things not only video games.

I had a ex that did this every time he woke up. After work. And I had enough of it. That is why he is now my ex. As he didn't help out much Did not have time for me. Because clash of clans was more important.😒

My fiance loves video games and he enjoys spending his free time playing them. Not every day all day, though. He should want to go out and do stuff with me, like going to the beach and hiking.

He can still play, but not 24/7.

We're both gamers so it works problem though is I'm adventurous and outdoorsy while he's not. It's left me a little bored wanting to be on the move, happy feet. We'd argue over plans because he'd get distracted completely.
