Do you make up your own melodies?

Sometimes when I feel sad about something I make up my own melody and sing or hum it. I am not sure why, I could as well listen to a music. But instead I sometimes prefer just making my own melody. Are you the same?

I love this question. I have trouble making a melody but I can write decently. Maybe your melody and my words can make a song.

I have a friend who's a singer song writer and she thinks I have a few things that would make good songs.

I wish I could hear music in my head but I'm not inclined that way and it's very frustrating.

I can’t hear a melody in my head either. I just sing my sadness away, I think I give a tune to my thoughts, that’s all.

That's really interesting. I bet if you talked to someone that could hear you they could turn it into a melody with instruments. I get so mad at myself because I want to be more artistic but when I think of what could the music or melody sound like it's blank lol.

I feel talentless when that happens but that's harsh and I know it.

I also like to write funny scenes like a sitcom. I can't seem to have an idea for even an entire episode but I see a scene in my head and the characters and I'll write that out. I probably need to work with other people to get inspired. Maybe I need different friends hahahaha

I really respect how hard it is to create something new and something that resonates with others and makes them feel emotion. Like a song for ex. I started to paint but I suck lol

No. Even though I've been the lead guitarist and vocalist in lots of cover bands, I have no knack for creating my own song melodies. I've written different lyrics to other people's songs a few times just for fun.

Yes, I am always trying to write songs, usually on keyboards, but it is not easy coming up with good melodies.

no and yes. i steal the start of someone elses and continue differently then i edit the part i stole so only mine gets published.

I do sometimes. I also make up my own guitar riffs which generally don't sound too good.
