What’s your favorite animal you’ve seen in the flesh?

I saw two bald eagles in tandem flyover today for the first time. I’ve been waiting my whole life to see those in the wild.

If zoos count I am not sure. I would guess red pandas.

If only in the wild its easier. A flock/swarm/family of small tawny or brown owls and a parent. They visited our garden for their first flying lessons. Our pergola was chosen as a good starting height for them. We had a nearby forest and a few nights in a row they visited our garden trying to fly and probably catch insects from our pond. It was super cute and the "big" one looked great and kept watch most of the time. The small ones landed on the ground drank from the fountain and looked funny while flying short distances. They where louder than one might expect from owls though. Before that I was always under the impression, that owls are quite but the big one actually made quite some noise.

I'm friends with the tree squirrel that lives in the trees around our house. I call him Buddy he's my favorite.

Outside of a zoo? Seen a few grizzlies, once a little close for comfort. Big bull moose are a pretty epic sight too

At the Bronx Zoo they had Siberian Tigers. They were amazing animals.

I’ve always loved wolves. Two years ago, when I went to northern Wisconsin, I saw three of them running at an amazing speed across an open field. They weren’t chasing anything, they were just running full speed. It was by far the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. People have lived there their entire lives and have never actually seen one, that made even more cool.
