What was your favorite playground equipment thingy to play on growing up?

We had a climbing frame. Not a jungle gym. This thing was scaffolding poles assembled over concrete and tarmac, or gravel if they were giving you a soft landing. It was angular and around 2.5 stories high. Injuries incurred by my friends and myself included broken bones, concussion (me), 9 stitches in the scalp (also me) and numerous dislocated shoulders and knees.

Of course, once we moved on from kindergarten we had the dangerous play equipment...

And no, I'm not joking. The frame was finally taken from my primary school in 1984 after a child got a spiral fracture of her femur - by tying her jump rope to it and trying to abseil off the top.

They scrapped the "witches hat" roundabout the same year in the older children's area. It was the beginning of the end...

Soon after around 7 years old, I got into vert skateboarding like this:

And actually I think it's because it's very similar to riding swings to ride a vert ramp. It's the same kind of pendulum motion except without any rope/chains attached to the board. But very similar feeling. I didn't like street skating much at all since it didn't feel like riding the swings this way.

I loved sandboxes as a kid. I would collect a bunch of stones and leaves and make a sandcastle to decorate with them.

I've always loved the swings. Still like swings lol. But we used to have way too much fun on those merry go rounds.

The swings for sure. Top Gun came out when I was in like first grade, so all through elementary school we would swing as high as we could and pretend we were pilots in a dogfight, and we’d go “Mayday! Mayday! I’m hit! I’m bailing out!”, and at the peak of the forward swing, we’d jump off the swing and come crashing to the ground. ZERO chance I don’t shatter my whole shit doing that as an adult, lmfao, kids truly are made out of rubber

I've not seen them in a long time, but you'd put your legs through two of the rings and swing back and forth to reach the central core (I'm starting to understand why they don't have these anymore).

Merry go round! I used to be on there with my friends and their older brothers would spin it so fast with us on it. I used to get my dad to spin it so fast that I would be almost flying off of it and holding on as hard as I could lol.

I was always into climbing stiff and dangling from things. So everything that was climbable or these vertical rods to swing from.

We had a massive, conical, rusty metal wobbly combined merry-go-round and see-saw that needed to be balanced to turn. It was quite fun and would give parents today an absolute fit!
