I go a few times a year, most recently last month. My older half-bro has special needs, and he lives at a place where he’s cared for, but I take he and my elderly father out for the day every couple of months. My bro loves bowling, so I always take him. My dad is too disabled to bowl now, he’s 92, so he just watches. My brother is a character, so he and I have a lot of laughs when it’s his turn😝

Only problem is the place we go has… I guess “REAL” bowling? We’re all used to candlepin. Three tries per turn, and a smaller ball that you can palm. I think it’s mostly an Eastern New England thing. But it’s ok, because I have to throw the games anyway, so he wins, and that makes it easier😂

It's been years; carpal tunnel's a bitch for that. But next weekend, I'm headed to a family wedding in Boston. I'll finally have a chance to try out duckpin, and maybe even candlepin, which I've wanted to do for years! And I'll confront (?) family members I haven't spoken to in four years because I ran halfway across the country.

The bowling is MUCH less intimidating to think about.
