Do you feel like most of the things that most people talk about are as if you were from the past and got stuck in the future?

I really have no clue what most of you people are talking about on here most of the time. I don't understand the slang, the pop culture references, the complaints and lifestyle choices, the dialects, the shows, the social movements, etc.

I feel like a great grandpa trying to understand his great grandkids' lingo, even though I still get carded at gamestop for "looking like a 15 year old".

I read or watch shit online and I just feel like marty mcfly (confused and terrified).

Lol, yeah I get the feeling yes. Im glad I have some youngsters working for me, they keep me up to date, they explain to me what is what and how they see the world right now. But were living in a strange world momentarly, thats for sure.

I work from home.
I draw, paint, animate, compose music, and I play retro video games.
I stay up to date on scientific discoveries, be they medical, physics, technology, natural history, etc. but no other forms of news.
I don't go to any churches (I'm an atheist).
I don't go to bars (I don't drink alcohol).
I watch nature documentaries and tech shows, science shows, cartoons/anime, and sci-fi/fantasy movies, but all online without ads or news (I don't have tv channels).
I read comics/manga and science research papers.
I build custom model kits and collect action figures and statues.
I use phones the way they were used in the 90s for the most part, and avoid most smart devices.
I use 90s and older meanings for words because I've actually used real dictionaries that were made before illiteracy was a culture.
I tend to not interact with anyone outside of a multiplayer gaming lobby, this website, or a forum for one of my interests.

I basically live under a rock inside a time capsule for anything that isn't geeky/nerdy.
So the rare times I do interact with the world socially or get some snippet of news, it feels like I'm interacting with people from another country lol.

Yeah... I can imagine. I often wonder how this next generation became what they are. Its our generation that helped made them lol. I own my own restaurant and people don't come for the food, drinks or the company of other people anymore. People come to "experience" something so they can share it on social media and tell them whether or not to experience it as well.

Its hard to keep up, I myself have a hard time keeping up. I do still think its more important to be happy and be yourself. If you're old school, own it.

And yeah I don't understand the obsession with phones and social media either.
