If you had superpowers, would you rather be well-known for them or have a secret identity?

There are pros and cons to both options, like if you are known then you would not have to worry about keeping your powers and identity secret, but if you use a secret identity then you will have more privacy in your personal life.

I'd want to keep my identity a secret.

If superheroes actually existed in the real world, they would get sued constantly due to various things such as destruction of property, bodily harm, and nearly everything else you could think of. They'd likely also be arrested for vigilantism.

Not to mention scientists, and especially the government, wanting to get ahold of you for testing, and/or to try to recruit you as an agent to work for them.

Hell, if I actually had super powers, I probably wouldn't be a hero at all, just because it very likely wouldn't be worth the legal challenges surrounding it. I wouldn't be a villain, either; I'd just use my powers sparingly, in my own daily life.

Well known. I don't need to hide myself or what I do. I don't have a no killing rule. I don't give a shit about laws. Target my loved ones? Cool, I'll wipe out everyone you care about and make you watch. If you have nobody? Cool, not much you can do if I remove your limbs and leave you stuck in a cellar to starve.

Secret identity... although it would depend on the super powers. The Fantastic Four all looked normal except for Ben whose powers changed his physical appearance. The other three could lead normalish lives if they chose but he couldn't assume a secret identity.

Secret identity for sure. Otherwise certain governments would just try to kill me, or capture me. Everyone would want to be in control of me if I had something that they don't. the rich and powerful people would see me as a threat.
