When did you first start cosplaying?

In my country the first cosplay events started in year 2008. I was a little kid at that time. I’ve gotten interested in cosplay events when I was maybe 13/14 all because I happened to be at the venue where there was a cosplay event. I was piqued with curiosity and appreciated how cosplayers were a thing. At that time anime was starting to be the growing trend amongst my generation. I was 19 when I started cosplaying… Now I’m going back to cosplaying obscure characters because I want the freedom to have my lunch early. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t regret cosplaying popular characters when I was 19 it’s just that I was constantly bombarded by fans and photographers. It had gotten so bad I couldn’t have my lunch early… 😞 As someone who started cosplaying obscure characters I have way more freedom than cosplaying popular characters. One thing to be careful of is some photographers are sketchy as hell, even some of them can be perverted but there are trustworthy ones out there. Wigs are one of the things I hate wearing because they feel tight on my head and putting my hair in a net and using bobby pins took way too much time. Comic cons are tiring as hell and please don’t insult cosplayers because we put in lots of effort in our cosplays. To me anybody can cosplay, I get its important to be as accurate as possible but it doesn’t have to be. Anybody no matter what skin color, shape and size can cosplay. It’s all about having fun.

I think the only reason for me to go there would be an assignment to photograph the best costumes or something along those lines. 🤷‍♂️

I was 18 or 19, I can’t remember. I have dressed up for both anime and comic cons. I’ve done 2B from Nier Automata, a few different Bleach characters, Medusa and Blair from Soul Eater, Spiderwoman, Rogue and Phoenix from X-men, Lucy from Fairy Tail, etc. Also a handful of characters I made up just for fun. I don’t anymore but maybe I’ll go back to it. It was fun going with friends but a lot of us basically grew out of it
