After crashing an ultralight and club drama, should I try flying again?

Back in the covid days I was interested in flying so my friend and I found an ultralight flight school in LA. I made the introduction flight and we drove out and flew with instructor. I liked it. We found an ultralight club in perris California. We joined them. I bought a hanger and a plane. I took flying lessons in a cessna then went to a light sports plane then took lessons in a 2 seater ultralight. In a par103 an ultralight is a 1 seater. I ended up crash landing it. Wrecked the plane. The guys from the club said they will help me dis assemble it and put it together with new parts. I bought the parts and no 1 helped. I mouthed off to the board members and got kicked out. Im thinking to try it again at another club. This whole thing is a cash only thing. My wife says no. I know the risks cause people die in planes. My friend is the 1 that rides bikes with me and goes to rallies like sturgis in south Dakota. My question is should I try again?

WOW!! It just so happens that I have been watching the videos "MAYDAY: Airplane Disaster"✈️ every single day for about a month or so. So I am well aware of the consequences of flying airplanes.

Maybe you should watch a lot of those videos first before you make your final decision.

I've seen how sometimes a commercial airliner has been told by the air traffic controllers that there's a plane like you described and to watch out for it.

Well, you can guess what happened! They lost sight of the small plane and they crashed into each other mid-air.

Sometimes the way that the wind screens are fitted the pilot can't always see the other planes because parts of the view is blocked by parts holding the wind shield together. A blind spot if you will.

I completely understand that you have a passion for flying. I've seen ferry pilots having discussions about it and even with all of their close calls for all different reasons, they say they will never do it again Then the phone rings and they are asked if they would take a job ferry flying for weeks to other countries. Of course they always say yes! They said that it's an addiction!

So I know how you must be feeling. Of course you don't want to die, you just want to fly!! I get it! It's in your blood and hard to just shake off.

You've survived a crash already and lived to tell about it. So you are well aware of what can happen in an instant.

There was another guy member on here last week or so, and he wanted to drive his Harley so bad but his wife was totally against it. So he came here to ask us for our opinions. He ended up not riding his Harley after reading our opinions.

Even with everything I am saying, your wife has to come first before the plane. She can never replace you like you replace a crashed plane.

Imagine her getting the news that your plane crashed but this time you didn't survive it. Imagine someone going to your house and telling your wife that she will never ever see you again. In her grief making all of the phone calls and making decisions about your funeral while she just had her heart ripped out of her chest.

Picture her standing at your coffin ⚰️ being lowered into the ground at the cemetery.🪦 Her coming home to her empty house. The phone rings but it's never you calling.

Personally if I were you making this huge decision, I would allow your wife to live in peace and continue your lives together.

Even though flying - and there's nothing like it, I bet you could find another hobby that you enjoy and then everyone wins!!

Was there an investigation by the NTSB of that crash? If yes, then the FAA has a thick file on you and if you try to fly again and do crash a second time, your people is likely going to be revoked.

You are probably also blacklisted somewhere on a register and you must weigh if you will take the risk of harming someone and facing claims that are likely going to put you in a dire financial situation.

Also, did you buy a hanger or a hangar?

Do you even have a LSA or people license or did you just fly as a passenger with an CFI?

I think that a pertinent question here, would be...

did you crash a plane due to incompetence... or did you crash the plane because of things that were just not under the reach of human control?

Get a 4 wheel drive vehicle and do some offroad driving. You will stay on the ground and stay alive (probably).
