Has anyone here ever played cage ball and how is it actually played?

Completely different from any other ball game. The ball can't be easily handled by one person. The ball can become a brutal weapon by utilizing simple physics.

Cage ball feels like someone mixed volleyball, rugby, and chaos into one giant puffball game 😄 I’ve played it a few times in school. You use a huge, light ball and usually split into two teams. The goal is often to push or roll the ball over a line or onto a target. You don’t really “throw” it; everyone shoves, bumps, and lifts together. It looks brutal, but it’s more about teamwork and momentum than precision.

Yup. It's a US thing. It's like rugby in some ways. And it's a workout. Finesse is not a major element, LOL.

Huh, interesting. I have never heard a thing about this. I am surprised at a university the size I go to that it hasn't caught on.

Tho, if it is considered a brutal (or potentially) game, the school may not allow it.

Oh yeah, hard to explain how it works but a player can run full speed at the ball and be thrown 6 feet backward through the air on impact if it's done right. People are astonished the first time it happens to them. And the balls we played with were not "lightweight". They probably weighed about 40 lbs because of the heavy canvas and leather cover and laces needed to protect the ball from being destroyed.

I have to imagine that if it were ever attempted at the school, they quickly put an end to it with most never knowing it was a thing.

Being a large state school, they don't like to take chances when it comes to student safety. That much I can guarantee.

Different times most likely. I played in high school and University but I went to a private military university. Cage Ball was a totally "normal" thing for us. We had them in the military too. Tons of fun. But it's not exactly risk free. More like chaos with very few rules.
