Why do hobbies cost so much to enjoy?

I am a Kpop fan and a gamer. You’d Have to be like Rich or super wealthy/successful to live like that, to enjoy the hobby. Cuz i sure am not!

I can’t afford my K-pop hobby, i can barely afford my gaming hobby.

For example: games cost like $50-80 nowadays and even on discount cost $30 and that adds up with how much you buy at once.

K-pop costs so much, especially when collecting photo cards, albums, and merchandise, etc. especially if you don’t live in Asia.

How do other people do it?

What helped me is treating hobbies like a budget build. I pick a few “must-have” games a year, wait for big sales, and ignore fear of missing out. For K‑pop, I enjoy free content: streams, YouTube, digital music, and only buy one album or merch on special occasions.

Plenty of fans are broke like us; they just prioritize, go slow, and enjoy what they can, not everything.

I guess why they are so expensive is the amount your investing into it that strains your bank account. Sure I like to game too but i would by my games second hand if its not something im willing to get into right away. If a hobby cost money in some form or another then it will cost a lot more, the more your willing to invest capital into it
