I got a pair of Air Pods, mostly what I needed.

⚠️**Warning** Apple rant incoming⚠️

I hate that cheap and greedy Apple insisted on consolidating the data and audio port into one socket via the lightning cable. When the battery capacity dwindles, I'd have had to keep it plugged in which means I'd have to deal with microphone interference on voice calls while on speaker phone.

Hopefully this gets around that. Yeah, I should replace the battery, but I don't like cycling batteries more than I have to.

I also love that the EU legislation is forcing them to use a more universal charger (USB-C). I wish my sister and my family members hadn't jumped on the Apple bandwagon (I'm a Microsoft kid) because they wanted Facetime so badly. I'm considering switching to Samsung/Android again just to spite them for being inflexible for so long trying to get a monopoly for petty reasons.

It's one of those things where, yes, technically it makes their device cheaper and more environmentally friendly, at least on their books, but it prorates an unaccounted cost on the customer buying extra proprietary cables and accessories that is only compatible with their product.

Meanshile, good engineers are just trying to make shit that works. They usually don't care about brand name squabbling/marketing, they care about delivering a high quality product that speaks for itself.
