Kids used to take part in Calennig going door to door singing while carrying apples with twigs stuck in but these days it's mostly done within families or as an art and craft thing in kids clubs.

First footing still gets done in a lot of houses. The idea being the first to set foot in the house determines what type of luck you get. Ideally they should be a dark haired male carrying a bottle of whisky and a lump of coal. Women are considered unlucky and you'll still find older people won't let you in until a man turns up.
