People are not one thing or another. They're combination of many things and good at different things. So I have to click with the sum of everything he is. So physical chemistry and attraction got to be there. But it doesn't mean he needs to be extremely good looking. He needs to be financially sufficient but it doesn't mean he needs to be rich. Because I am not going to be with a beautiful homeless man who is funny and can say two intelligent sentences.

Now that's unrealistic

I met my wife online. We spent months chatting online before we met in person. I had no idea what she looked like before our first "date" in person but I knew I wanted to spend my life with her.

She's a doctor, extremely intellectual. I'm not so much. Never been one for book-smarts.

We've been married 18 years and together 20.

Well.. both, at 21 I married for looks and it turned out no amount of attraction/raw sexual compatibility could make up for what we lacked in common on all other facets. I waited for round two until I was established professionally and sought a like-minded professional in my field. I was lucky enough to not have to settle with any commonalities I sought while still attracting a true partner who is so much more than just her devastating looks. 😉

So I'd expect a reasonably nice exteriour - not a ''model'', though.
Where her intelligence level should suffice to not be a danger or embarrassment at home or in public.
Sounds Macho, but it actually comes from my tolerant view on life
