In the old days everybody had responsibilities & the consequences of not being responsible was getting punched in the mouth, slapped or worse. This was true whether you were a man or a woman or child... of course the people who would hit the man would be other dudes. Smart men & women didn't do things that got them punched/slapped. It's not as complicated as people make it out to be these days.

When I was a kid, you did not have any right to talk back to your parents or to even have a bad attitude around your parents. You were expected to do a lot of chores and be supportive of your parents. Today kids are treated like they run the home and the foolish parents are their servants.

Today almost nobody takes responsibility for anything and we see huge increases in the number of women (and men) doing violent crimes, and thieving. Society is falling apart.

But there's legal differences between now and then too... in I Love Lucy days there was no such thing as "domestic violence". You could actually call the cops to punish your wife or kids for you. If a woman was dumb enough to go to a police station to complain about her husband, best case, the cops would call the husband to pick her up. Worse case... she'd be begging to get back to her husband. Also women weren't getting child custody, child support & so on. The government stayed out of people's homes. Now Uncle Sam's penis is up your butt. Not everybody thinks that's a good thing, regardless of sob stories people who are too stupid to ever pick a good partner want to tell.

And going back to the I Love Lucy thing... in that show Lucy was always doing things that costs the family/her husband an entire paycheck or TWO. She didn't have a job and they're living in an apartment. Do the math. It's a life or death situation, basically not a "someone spilled milk" situation. Today, most relationships & marriages are less serious than in the past so it's hard for people to comprehend what true team work & mutual responsibilities looks like. It's so easy to dump/move on (in marriage it's easy for the woman) so there's no need for people to take responsibility for their stupid choices. They just jump out of the situation.
