No. It's not OK.

Kids need respect and fair treatment, as every one of us. And they don't misbehave; they learn by example, mostly by observing adults and other kids in their environment. If you don't want your kid to behave in some way, first check if you don't do the same.

Another thing is kids have very poor emotional regulation, and they very often feel lost in their emotions and overreact. It's not the reason to punish them. It's the reason to hold them close, make them feel secure and give them time to understand and sort out their own emotions.

Create a relationship based on mutual respect with your kid. Listen to their struggles and be their ally when they learn how this world works. They didn't ask to be born and spanked.

i don't agree with spanking. that does literally nothing except make the child resent you when they're older. you can just speak to them like human beings and tell them what they did wrong... and the consequences for doing that. and for them to learn for next time. and repeat. also, why the wedgies?

Spankings yes. Within reason. Wedgies absolutely not. Discipline only works if you are in control. My parents would do a slap upside the head for doing stupid stuff in public. I stopped doing stupid stuff in public. They would slap me or my brother across the face if we threw a tantrum in public. We didn't throw a tantrum in public. Once is enough

You shouldn't hit children as a way to solve things and get your points across. Your job as a parent is teach and guide by example. Hitting isn't teaching. All you'll going to do is make your children obey just out of fear of getting hit but not really learn anything.
