Would you rather elope or spend thousands of dollars on marriage?

Ummm... that's a hard question lol. My fiancée and I are going through that right now. We're trying to decide if we want to have a big wedding (which of course is expensive) or a small wedding for our close family and friends. She hasa really big family so we are just not sure what we want to do.

We don't want to elope, but we just bought a house and a big wedding is intimidating cost-wise.

I used to be about elope but now I have changed my views. Elopement is rather selfish.

Marriage should be commemorative. It's a celebration. People want to be included.

I would spend the money for my guests. But I would go intimate and lavish and could likely pull it off for 5K.

Rather elope. Spending 1000s of $ on marriage is for the rich or those with too much money and I'm not rich. It's kind of like Andrew Tate said "Sparkling water is for the rich" except here it's bankrupt-making marriages.

I got married by the justice of the peace. I think marriages started with a full wedding don't last. Everyone I know that had a big wedding have gotten a divorce

Probably because weddings are an added finance in the end of things that sets couples back from living comfortably

I'd rather spend a reasonable amount of money on a wedding. Which is what we did. Spending thousands on a wedding is not a requirement for a wedding.
