Men when you’re Married. What’s your focus? building a life with your wife or taking care of parents?

I think parents have an obligation to make plans for their care if they ever become unable to take care of themselves.

My parents are taking care of my grandparents now and fortunately they have plenty of money to do it with, but it came as a complete surprise to them and turned their lives upside-down.

In the process we've found out that huge numbers of people my parents age are suddenly forced to put their own lives aside to have the the grandparents move in or otherwise take care of them full-time, even splitting up families and giving up jobs and moving to the grandparents cities because the grandparents won't move to where the parents are to be cared for.

My parents plans have been set up by a lawyer and I know what they are. If anything ever happened to them, I will still see them as much as I can and do whatever I can to help, but I won't ever be required to just because they wouldn't make their preparations.

We are building our life together, enjoying it alongside of our parents. It will be that way for a long time. However when parents are too old and cripple to care for themselves, we would love to have them all live rather right beside us or with us.

My parents will still be a big part of my life, and hopefully hers will become so as well, but the main focus will be us and our future children.
