We had been dating for about a decade and one day I think she got tired of us "just dating". So one day she said to me how come we've never gotten married yet. And I said "you've never proposed to me". And she said shockingly and a little angrily, "I PROPOSE"? And I said "very well I accept". Then she paused for a moment while her brain re-booted. And by this point I got a goofy grin on my face then she smiled ear to ear punched me in the ribs and gave me a big hug. Then for the next 6 months I faked proposals with her. Like we'd be walking in the park and I'd ask her if I could ask her a question. And I'd get down on one knee staring up into her eyes and holding her hands. And then I'd say "will you wait up for me so I can tie my shoe"? Finally one day after I had her back on her heels I actually proposed. It was nothing fancy, and honestly at that point I think she was waiting for the punchline. But she deep down knew it was going to happen all along. Not exactly the ending to casablanca I know. But that was 18 years ago and I think we're plenty happy. At least I am... I just asked her if she's happy and she just rolled her eyes at me. I'll take that as a yes.🤣
