Will marriage become obsolete?

I have heard many say that marriage is completely unnecessary in the modern world. They say that it's a burdensome contract that can destroy your financial freedom and is not necessary to raise healthy and productive kids. Looking at the skyhigh rates of infidelity and divorce, I'm beginning to agree. Do you? If you don't, then why not?

Nope marriage will last and be there for a good number of centuries. Also the fact you are married or not does not come into it if you are in a long term committed relationship, common law relationships also have similar financial coverage as marriage, for example if you met a girl at university and neither owned a house but both moved into one, then chances are it would be divided between both. The financial side for non married couples can be complex.

At this rate probably, for it to be fixed the imbalance needs to be restored. It should not remain the case where the woman can leave and leave a man destroyed. No fault divorce was the biggest issue in that, I think a middle ground is better. She can divorce with no fault, but then the judge won't rule in her financial favor since she abandoned the man.

Not really. For religious people they will always have marriages. For the regular "I don't really believe" perhaps. Though I would never have kids, or make a family with a guy not willing to have that contract with me. Seems like having the spawn of a guy like that would be a really stupid move on my part, considering he has no ties to me and could abandon us with no consequences.

Nope, there will always be people both interested in and worthy of marriage. There are periods in time when those people are few, but there always ends up being events that purge the immoral population and/or revives the moral population. Nothing new under the sun.

I respect your response. The legal reality is that the government decides your marital status and what your legal rights are. The religious component is irrelevant in the eyes of the court. People who are religious and non-religious get married. They are all subject to the same laws.

Yes and when they separate anyone of these components what youvget is what you see
Divorce the religious component from marriage and the whole thing crumbles into meaninglessness.
Divorce the building of the family unit with or without kids and watch the fracturing of the foundation of civilization.
Divorce economic productivity by way of diverse laws, regulations and taxation. What do you get? The intrepid cycle of poverty and division.

It will never become obsolete, because there will always be value to both men and women in a healthy marriage. But unless things change drastically, marriage will disapear because women are destroying it.
