Do you think this dress is appropriate for a wedding (casual)?

My partners dad is getting married in January, the wedding will be taking place in a church (Anglican). I was thinking of just wearing a dress I already have, cute blue sun dress. It has a slit up the leg but I have stitched the one on mine closed to just above the knee. The wedding isn't going to be super formal, partners dad said my partner could just wear jeans and a button up if he wants to.

Let me know what you think and what things would look cute to pair with it! Accessories etc!

Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion! It's very thoughtful of you to even think about asking what's appropriate.

It depends on what your goals are. You may be in some photos, so keep that in mind. I don't want to offend you, because the reality is that you can wear whatever you want and that's perfectly OK. But I'd personally lean a little more conservative, just because even though it's casual, it's in a church. I'd either do the slit, the form-fitting, or the low neckline, but probably not all of those in one dress. It's too high of a wardrobe malfunction risk, especially if you'll be dancing. Again, I'd err on the side of caution and just grab something casual that you love at Old Navy or something.

If you go with it, I'd wear some nude strappy heels or flats. Your skin tone would actually work well with a blush-tone shoe color because it would blend like a nude. A couple layered necklaces would look super cute. Add a cute handbag and a pretty wrap or cropped cardigan/sweater, in case the church is chilly. If you do beachy waves and pull your hair forward over your shoulders, it would look great.

The neckline can be adjusted but whatever I am in its going to look busty since I have a larger chest. It's also not as form fitting as the model photo

@Razp_Sorbet I don't think busty or the neckline is a problem. I'm just saying slit, neckline, and form-fitting altogether might not be as functional as you might like. But again, it's up to you.

Nothing like an, ummmmm, larger chest. But the dress may seem a bit risque and risky for a church wedding.

I agree that as long as the slit is not as high on your dress that you should be fine. And I totally understand, being a large chested girl, regardless what you wear it’s going to potentially come across as ‘showy’. Even though it is not intended.

Should be fine... if there is no snow. You should wear a bulletproof vest though... school shooters might show up. Remember to carry a knife and maybe a small 22lr handgun at least. Pack some grenades if you're bringing a purse. Gotta blow fuckers up sometimes. Have you considered bringing pit bulls with you?

Even though casual , you will be attending a Church ( I'm not even remotely religious ) the couple have decided they want this in a church , therefore its not appropriate in my view , and I'm sure you could find something that worked far better.

My opinion only , I don't like Churches , but it us what it is. The split needs to go , and dress needs to be higher , just as you would wear if you were going to Church.

I think it looks nice, classy yet casual. Perhaps get some blue or white matching shoes. Maybe a necklace, something delicate and not flashy. Depending on weather (it rains or is a little cooler), possibly a light knit shawl, maybe cream or white sleeveless. A blue mini-jean jacket could compliment it also, considering it is a casual event.

If the slit is just to the knee I think it is OK. Not so sure about the bodice or if there is a rule about not out-boobing the bride.

too simple for a wedding, too high slit for a church. go for a "low back" knee length dress, with additional frills ribbons etc. or fancy cuffs on the short sleeves.

I honestly think summer dresses are good for pretty much every occasion. I say go for it. It's an attractive choice.
