Why do people like to romanticize marrying a poor woman?

I was reading "Breaking the Circle," (it end with us)? where a neurosurgeon marries a florist. The book was obviously written by a woman. I'm a medical student, and I would never marry a florist. If I were forced to marry, I'd only marry a woman who's a doctor with a good residency.

Another equally bad and similar book is 50 Shades of Grey, a supposed businessman falls in love with a photographer.

It is women who like to romanticize this because it is hypergamy on steroids.

I earn well, but contrary to you, I am not going to choose a woman on the basis of her income and work status. It will be on the basis of her character and nature.

A broke waitress might have the qualities I want.
