Boyfriend's ugly glasses?

I've been with my current boyfriend for a few months and it's been great! He's really sweet. The only problem is that he wears these coke bottle glasses, and my friends think he really looks geeky. We went out on a date, and I decided to take his glasses from him. He couldn't see a thing and I had to guide him along. He was annoyed about it later on, but I didn't see the big deal. Thoughts?

I wear my glasses always, because I like how they look and I like being able to SEE. He probably feels the same. Granted, my eyesight isn't completely horrible, but I need them to see aaanything at a distance. To drive, to see details of faces more than like 5 yards away, to watch a movie at home OR in theatres, to not have shadows all blur together in the dark, and tons of other things. If you aren't and have never been visually impaired, you have NO idea what it's like to just not be able to see all of a sudden like that. If you have or have had impaired vision, then you must not be very bright, because experience would tell you that it's not very nice at all to have your sight taken from you so suddenly. I'd like to get contacts, just so that I have the option of NOT wearing glasses sometimes, to change it up, because most people don't see me without glasses.

But honestly, I would dump someone if they did that to me. I've worn glasses for years. Most people I know and involve in my life MET me with glasses. So to know that I met someone, we liked each other, and liked and were satisfied [supposedly] with each others' appearances... to have them pull a stunt like that, I wouldn't stick around. Especially if it were influenced by their friends. The complete disrespect and disregard for how what you did might make a person feel is appalling to me. Moaterboat said it perfectly with 'vulnerable and undignified'. I would be irate.

Also, if I had friends who talked s.hit about someone I was with and pressured me like that all because of appearances, I would tell them all to go f.uck themselves. Friends support each other, not bring each other down. I suggest that you go find some new friends and learn to think about how your actions affect others.

Honestly?!?! You DO REALIZE you took his glasses from him and he COULDN'T SEE?! ummm that's like if I said to you "hmmm I think you'd look better with two bandages covering your eyes, I know you can't see but you look a lot better this way!"... bottom line, that's NOT OKAY! Who cares what your friends think! and why would you be in a relationship with someone if they want to change the way you look , I feel sorry for your boyfriend :/

well, maybe suggest that he gets contacts? but really if he don't want to you can't make him, you met him when he had glasses right? who cares what your friends think, all my friends think my boyfriends ugly and I can get way better but I honestly don't see the big deal except the fact he's really immature and selfish :/ I mean I don't feel that I'm to good for him or anything I think he's hott

If you want him to change because your friends think he looks geeky, then you need to grow up. Seriously.

If you want him to change because YOU don't like the way they look, then you're still better off sucking it up. If it bothers you that much, then nicely let him know what your preference would be (and if he's okay with changing them, help him pick out a pair you both like).

Actually taking his glasses from him was a d*** move, though. Like moaterboat said, did you even think about how humiliating that would have been? He couldn't function properly at that point, and had to be led around like a dog going for a walk. He's your BOYFRIEND, not your property. If someone did something like that to me (theoretically, I don't wear glasses), I wouldn't be able to trust that person anymore.

If you don't like his glasses, then you can either live with it or ask him to change them. Don't make a big deal out of it though, because it really isn't one.

I cannot believe you did that. That was a HUGE bitch move. If it bothered you that much maybe you could've suggested contacts or nicer glasses but it would be his choice. You incapacitated him and likely made him feel like crap, hence the reason he was annoyed with you. Stop being so manipulative. If he wants to wear those glasses then you should let him be. It's just one part of him, a small, tiny part.

If a chick told me I hate your glasses or anything I was wearing, I would wear my glasses all the time, and whatever article of clothing she hated, I would buy at least three more pairs and I would be sure to wear them around that chick all the time.

if there this ugly buying a new pair of glasses should not be a big deal and shouldn't be that expensive . but at the same time they are his glasses so its really up to him if he wants to get a new pair .
