I am watching the news and they tell me the price of avocados has gone up and so has the cost of children's shoes. Then of course the price of gas has doubled. Can anyone think of something that has actually gone down in cost over the last year and a half?Inflation blows!

I just looked at my retirement account. It sure as hell has gone down.
It looks like Frontier optical cable is cheaper than what I have and faster! YEAHOOO!!! Our new phones were cheap given the "deal" we got... at least holding steady. Bond funds and junk bond funds are cheaper Stocks cost less, not sure they are really "cheaper". Silver and gold is still holding about steady... amazing isn't it!

Also: my neighbour under economical strain now sells her duck eggs below supermarket prices. It's a question of honour to me to buy from her as many as I can eat :)
People's worth 🤷♂️. Some local farmers are selling seasonal fruit and veggies kind of lower than they did 18 months ago to attract people so they can feed their families.
Only thing I've noticed is the small bottle of hand sanitizer. During the peak of the pandemic, it was about $2 a bottle. Now it's about $1 a bottle. I guess demand is no longer what it was.
There are sites that pay you to watch videos. It pays very little, so I had a whole herd of phones working for me. As well as my Walmart phones I had some old phones sitting around. I had them connected to WiFi, because none of them had cell service. I worked nights, so I would log in and see how much money my herd was making. Those little soldiers made me about $200 per month. A guy on this site told me about it. He mostly did online surveys, but those are so dang boring, but they pay more. You can also get paid to play video games, but you have to put in the effort and attend the phone. With watching videos, you can let the phones work on their own. Another thing I do is scan shopping receipts. You can make anywhere from 1 to 15 cents for a receipt. And you can find receipts all over, they don't have to be yours. They just have to be less than a week old. It might sound lame, but imagine walking across a large parking lot at Walmart and picking up dimes. And just because the app only paid 3 cents for the receipt, I was using about five apps for the same receipt. There are a number of ways to cash in your money, but I chose to get Amazon or Walmart gift cards. They weren't the plastic kind, they were virtual and you just plugged in the secret code to your amazon account. Walmart was better, because they gave you a thing where you could just hold up your phone to the scanner at the self checkout, and it collected the money.
I just viewed the whole thing like killing time or playing a game. I've been told that this site used to pay you to answer questions, but then they stopped doing it. I don't know why they did that.
There's another thing called geo mining (or something like that) it pays very little, but if you have to drive somewhere, you get paid for driving by certain spots. You don't go out of your way, you either hit a spot or you don't.
And there are apps that will pay you when your near certain stores. You don't even have to be all that close to the store. They only pay you about 2 cents, but the apps don't even need to be open on your phone.
This is how I look at it... If you were walking on the sidewalk and saw a quarter, would you pick it up? lol I'd be all over it like a chicken on a June bug.
You asked what was cheaper 18 months ago. Inflation has raised prices, therefore everything today is more expensive than 18 months ago.
And pay hasn't increased to keep up with inflation for years - but y'know, you're practically a Boomer unless you've lied about your age. So I can't expect you to understand the financial realities of the modern day.
I got a really good deal on a Tahoe in 2008. There was a picture of it on the dealer's website. There was snow on the ground and it was August when I was looking so I knew it had been sitting there for a long time.
