My SO usually gave me outdoorsy stuff like a year's pass to the provincial parks to go hiking, swimming, etc. Tickets to the theatre, etc. The best gifts were one's we could spend time together.

Maybe get him something that allows the both of you to spend more quality time together? I am sure he would always appreciate that.

What meant more to me than anything, was getting a card, not hallmark, etc. but one she made herself using blank card stock and pencil sketching. I keep those in a drawer next to my bed that I can read them now and then to make me smile. Nice thing is, the messages would be in her own words, not someone else's so it was personalized.

I would make her cards on Valentine's Day, Christmas, etc. and we would look forward to exchanging them.

Get him something that lasts so that each time he uses it he thinks of you. Some examples (and, obviously, I don't know your husband):

• Bottle of [fill in the blank]
• Engraved pen (or whatever tool he might use at work)
• If he uses keys, get him a sterling silver key chain with your name on it
• Cuff links if he wears that kind of shirt
• Series tickets to his favorite sport
• One of those get coffee all year things that local coffee shops offer

Anything that says "I know who you are" and that he will use often -- so it's a repeating "I love you".

Only you know your husband. Get him something which would be meaningful to him. You certainly don’t need to spent a lot of Monet, especially if you get him something that is of great sentimental value. If you do that it will likely mean a lot more to him as well.
