What was the last thing you purchased that the cost had shocked you?

We are in Year 3 of Bidenflation and it shows no sign of stopping. I went to Home Depot to buy a couple of gallons of exterior paint for my back porch. I almost choked when I saw the the price. It was 50 bucks a gallon.

Well, I mean…. literally the entire world is experiencing this, it’s not just us. Covid was a very unfortunate situation, with endless uncertainty. The thing with humans is that they’re incredibly stupid, selfish, and short-sighted, so we can’t really broadly just allow them to do whatever they feel like, they actually require fairly heavy regulation, unless we want to go feral and quit this society thing we have going on. Like one thing I DO NOT trust humans to do is “the right thing.” I’ve seen way too much evidence to the contrary.

Also, the point of life is to survive, not to maintain nations, generate GDP, yadda yadda…. that’s all the bullshit we’re caught up in because we’ve lost our way so badly. So you absolutely, positively cannot consider wallets in dealing with this. We don’t like it, but we can all eat fuckin’ squirrels and shit and live under a lean-to if it really came down to it. Our entire way of life is in no way a “must”, so I’ll never endorse recklessness to support it.

So with all that said, what is the alternative where we don’t carelessly get one another ill? I mean, that’s what would happen in natural life, and that’s fine in a natural setting, but we CHOSE to abandon that setting, so usual protocols don’t apply, we have to look after one another in a society, not be like “fuck you, I’m meeting my needs, doesn’t matter what you need.” We’re horrible, horrible people if we have that in our mentalities.

Also, not for nothing, something to think about…. when was the last time you saw prices go back to the old prices after the inflation subsided? Prices seem to be steadily increasing ALWAYS. We’ve had inflationary periods many times before, and Coca-Cola never went back to costing a nickel. All these companies (even oil companies) talking about huge profits while still gouging us.

However much inflation REALLY is, better believe they’re going higher on us. Just watch, maybe gas will fluctuate, but if you think your grocery bill will ever be under $100 again, guess again, even if you get the president of your dreams. NEVER. GONNA. HAPPEN. Politicians keep us distracted from corporate greed with silly culture wars, never forget that. They want you mad about an alleged litter box in a school bathroom instead of asking real questions about these corporations who do whatever they have to do to us to keep their stockholders happy and keep their own wallets fat. Anyone wants to talk about “woke”, stay “woke” to THAT. And almost every one of these fucks we vote in on both sides of the aisle are the problem. WE’RE the marks, man, we’re the suckers. They’ll all get paid on the low while pretending to “fight for us”, and then they’ll bail for a lucrative do-nothing job on the board of directors for some company in some industry they greased the tracks for.

Don’t want to rant too long, I’m just saying stay aware and don’t buy into “look what the other side is doing” horseshit, these are mostly distractions by design. There’s no R or D next to my name in the voting register, because none of these fucks are trying to help us, just lmfao at that naivety.

To answer your specific question, I guess hockey equipment struck me the other day. My chest protector is starting to get a little worse for wear, so I looked at the rack while I was getting my skates sharpened at the hockey shop, and they’re up to roughly $160, up from maybe $140 in 2019 when I first purchased them. To be fair, though, it’s a Canadian manufacturer, so I don’t know what effect that has on the price.

I had to buy 4 tires for my work truck. It cost me $2000 for just 4 tires to be mounted and balanced. I didn't even get the road hazard warranty on them.

Most everything. Eating out is quite shocking.

I get my tax bill in a few days, I've been meditating to prepare for it.

Worst lately, insurance up 25% in a year. That's 25% inflation!:) Food is worse at 100%+.

I ejoy picking up the trash other people throw on my road... what a bunch of idiots we've raised... and the cans have shrunk in size, can only imagine the price.

Note the issue is Biden "turning loose the energy monster" + endless money printing which is spending via congress which the fed covers... which includes all the covid payments, bailouts, etc... Trump had a hand in that, but not the only one... he was controlling spending somewhat. We gotta yet pay for Ukraine (not over by a long shot including rebuilding, and bank bailouts they say are funded, and upcoming state bailouts. It's all intentional.

The fed said before..."want inflation to run hot for a while"... they weren't kidding... to cover all the spending. There's no constraint when ya got a money press to maintain power.

I don't know how those whom work hard, but were on the edge... are doing. They gotta be cutting stuff out... It's easier on the poor as they get handouts, if one is caught just above the line, they are paying the price of their choices.

They say that politics makes strange bedfellows, and I feel unclean in defending Joe Biden, but in the interest of truth: it ain't all, or even mostly, his fault. What we're seeing now is the result of a vast increase in money (that's on him- and Trump, but mostly him) along with a giant drop in the creation of wealth- and THAT is the fault of every governor who shut their state down (so every one, except for Noem) and especially every one who  kept  it shut down long after it became clear that was a terrible idea. This inflation is first and foremost a matter of STATE actions, not federal. Most people don't want to admit that, because most people went lockdown-crazy, turned viciously on those who opposed them from the start, and are VERY reluctant to admit that they were wrong, but if we're going to condemn a behavior in our politicians, we need to condemn it in ourselves, too.

I don't know where you shop, but at Home Depot in this area they have premium paint for $25 per gallon. I don't remember how much I paid when I painted my house 20 years ago, but it was not a whole lot less.

The area that I notice inflation was on audio equipment (more people buying that than paint) and that equipment really soared in price just a few years ago. Same with photographic equipment. That was due to Trumpflation. When he came in he raised tariffs on products from various countries which caused that jump in prices. Same for products like sewing machines and supplies.

Thankfully with him gone, electronics are not skyrocketing any more.

A pack of meat. Literally jumped $8 or $9 from the last time I went to buy it. I couldn't believe it.

It was $12 and some change and went up to $21 and some change and with the store discount if you give them your number it's $17 and some change.

It's literally unbelievable how this man ruined this country's economy especially on things we need like food and basic essentials.
