I put it away. I had a summer job as a teenager bagging groceries and getting carts at an Ingles, and refuse to be one of those people that just leaves their cart for someone else to get. I also bus my own table when I go out to eat, making sure to separate everything so the dish washers can just scrap and go. It's not a matter of right or wrong for me, it's a matter of respecting everyone in their job.

I return it, wouldn't want it to somehow blow into another vehicle. I'd feel bad if something like that happened and I could have prevented it.

I always put it in the rack. It pisses me off when people dont.
