Are these ok Christmas/birthday gifts?

Two really pretty rings that I picked up secondhand for $2. Are they appropriate Christmas gifts for my sixty something friend? With some Burt’s bees hand creams for her birthday?

Those rings seem like maybe kinda cheap gifts, no offense. Like if they were your grandma or something it'd be cool, but for just a friend who's still youngish I dunno. Hand creams are always good but also pretty standard.

For Christmas you wanna get something nicer i think. Maybe some chocolates or a cute mug/coffee gift set? Or you could make homemade cookies if you're artsy. For her birthday, I'd try to pick one nicer gift instead of a couple smaller things. Like what are her hobbies? Maybe a book related to something she likes, or a gift card to a store/coffee place she goes to a lot.

Don't wanna seem like you didn't try, ya know? And secondhand jewelry might come off like you didn't wanna spend anything. I'd say just put a little more thought into it to show you care. She will appreciate the effort more than the price tag for sure!

Don't give clothing or jewelry or other durable goods like housewares to older friends unless you know they are wanted. At that age most people have what they want and are paring down. In particular, they are already wearing all the jewelry they want to wear.

Consumables like hand creams can be good. Food and other comestibles are good if you know what they like. Books can be good if they are a reader.
