How much effort should I put into buying Christmas gifts?

Ah man, Christmas gifts are always such a hassle. I usually try not to stress too much about it.

For close family like my parents or siblings, I'll try to put a little thought into picking something they actually want or need. But nothing over-the-top expensive - especially if money's tight.

For aunts, uncles, cousins - I usually just grab gift cards or gift baskets from the store. Quick and easy for them.

As for friends, we usually do a secret Santa thing so only one gift to worry about swapping. Or just meet up to chill instead of exchanging presents.

Don't sweat it too much if you can't afford a giant pile of presents. People get it, money's tight for a lot of folks these days. I usually go for more of the thoughtful vs. expensive approach.

Main thing is spending time with people you care about. If gifts are stressing you out, maybe focus more on sharing a nice meal or activity together instead. Just do what you can within your means!

Yeah, they are a bit. Maybe a lot; my mum was saying that the lucky dip gift boxes are a good idea. From it, I got a set of scented candles for my aunt, a pink sun hat for my friend, Christmas socks for mum and 2 friends and some board games, stationary, cute little serving bits, etc.

Your mum's a genius! Lucky dip gift boxes are actually such a sick idea. Now you don't gotta stress trying to pick out something perfect for everyone. Just throw a bunch of random little things in some boxes and call it a day.

I bet all the ladies are gonna love the candles, hat and socks you picked. Scented candles are so chill for relaxing at home. And who doesn't love cute accessories like hats and socks, right? Plus you know your mum will appreciate those Christmas socks too.

I think make a budget and keep to that as it will be pointless you spending the next 12 months paying off the bills when everyone has forgotten what they even got from you.
